Your Love
The Ambassador Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You cried for the broken
You lived for the hopeless
You died for the guilty so that we could be righteous
You took away the shame
You wiped the tears away
And I am amazed, oh yeah, of your love for me
Anybody ever tell you that they love you? Of course they have
It's almost automatic, we all endorse the habit
We say it but don't display it, we can do better
It's just a few letters until it gets some shoe leather
'Cause when the rubber meets the road, we see a tree
Where blood was leaked, and this is more love than we can hold
Love saw me in the deepest hole
Started reachin', you ask if I was seekin'? No
I was sinkin' low, on the brink of throwin' in the towel
No hope like on a singing show singing foul
But the Judge saved me and his love bathed me
Bug maybe, but I'm clean and that's a love baby
It's not a diva, gets biz like a beaver
Sees a need and sleeves roll up like Wiz Khalifa
But this is neither, that's meager
I'm talkin' love off the meter and that's Jesus
[Chorus – Michelle Bonilla]
[Verse 2 – KJ-52]
So when it comes, see our love and we got a lot to say
Put this in your ear bud like headphones from Dr. Dre
Had you locked away, stuck you in a rocky cave
Put you in a tomb and took the stone went and blocked the grave
They assumed that you had up and gone away
I see the truth, it was you up and haunted me
It all new so when they moved and pulled the rock away
Found it all empty 'cause we have all gone astray
But simply you give me love and I gots to say
You're enough for the junk that I gots to face
You are the Son who gives light into the darkest day
Stop the funeral, said you'd fall away
My life is changed, went from sin to godly
You promised sins are all yes not "sorta, prob'ly"
It's most def like the other dude down with Kweli
It's no death 'cause he cured, now with how you got me
[Chorus – Michelle Bonilla] (x2)
The lyrics of The Ambassador's song Your Love convey the powerful message of the extent of Jesus Christ's love for humanity. The chorus performed by Michelle Bonilla explicitly explains that He died for the guilty to make them righteous, took away their shame and wiped their tears. The songwriters strive to convey that love is not merely the expression of affection or words of endearment but is also an action that requires great personal sacrifice. The first verse is vocalized by The Ambassador himself, where he talks about the usual temptation of saying the words "I love you" without truly reflecting on their true meaning. He reaffirms that genuine love extends beyond verbal appreciation and requires practical gestures like physical involvement and sincere attention.
The second verse is sung by KJ-52, who continues with the notion of Christ's selfless love and how it has changed his life completely. KJ-52 reinforces that Jesus Christ's love is unconditional, and it can transform even the darkest and the most hopeless situations into something beautiful. KJ-52 emphasizes that Jesus' love is sufficient to help him overcome any personal defects and gives him the strength to face his fears courageously. The song Your Love underscores the gravity of Jesus Christ's love and its transformational power, offering hope and a new beginning to anyone who believes.
