"Margarita Margaro" is a song by The Athenians, and the lyrics evoke a sense of longing, imprisonment, and a desire for freedom. The recurring theme throughout the song is the character of Margarita, who is portrayed as a beautiful and mysterious figure. In the first verse, the singer describes Margarita as a dove in the sky, and when they look into her eyes, they see the infinity of the universe. The night is personified as they mention that it sees them locked up, but the stars and the dawn witness their confinement.
The second verse further emphasizes the idea of Margarita being imprisoned by her mother. The mother is described as crazy, and she locks Margarita up in her room. The singer desires to enter Margarita's chamber, but the mother throws a silk rope at them, symbolizing the obstacles that prevent them from being together. The night sees their confinement, but the stars and the dawn are also witnesses to their longing and desire for freedom.
In the final verse, Margarita is compared to a tree in the botanical garden. The singer urges Margarita to take the tram before night falls because they faint when the hours pass by. Again, the mother's presence is highlighted, as she locks Margarita in her room and throws a silk rope at anyone attempting to enter. The night sees their confinement, but the stars and the dawn are witnesses to their yearning for freedom.
