Wait Till Tomorrow
The Banana Splits Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Wait til' Tomorrow

Gliding through the mirrors all through the night
Searching for the star that was once so bright
We had it once but we let it go
The warm affection that we needed so

But wait til' tomorrow
We'll find each other then
Wait til' tomorrow
Tomorrow we will learn to love again

Yesterday we said our love could last
And if we fight or cried all over the past
I don't know just how we lost our way
But I know we can't make love come back today

So wait til' tomorrow
We'll find each other then
Wait til' tomorrow
Tomorrow we will learn to love again

Wait til' tomorrow
We'll find each other then
Wait til' tomorrow
Tomorrow we will learn to love again

Wait til' tomorrow
We'll find each other then

Wait til' tomorrow
Tomorrow we will learn to love again

Overall Meaning

The Banana Splits's song "Wait Til' Tomorrow" is a classic love song that tells the story of a couple who have lost the spark in their relationship. The lyrics are simple yet poignant, capturing the hope and nostalgia of better days gone by. The song starts with the lines "Gliding through the mirrors all through the night, searching for the star that was once so bright." This suggests a journey through memories, searching for something that has been lost in the past. The star that was once so bright could be a metaphor for the love that has faded away.

The second verse talks about the couple's past, how they believed their love could last and how they fought and cried over past mistakes. However, despite their efforts, they have lost their way and cannot make love come back today. The chorus of the song is a reassuring message to wait for tomorrow, as they will find each other and learn to love again. The repetition of the phrase "wait til' tomorrow" emphasizes the importance of taking the time to heal and reconcile before trying to love again.

The overall message of the song is one of hope and second chances. It suggests that love is not always easy, but it is worth fighting for. The emotive yet subdued melody of the song perfectly accentuates the nostalgic and calming tone of the lyrics, making it an ideal love song for those seeking to rekindle their relationships.

I seriously wished The Banana Splits lasted longer, it could've been as big as Scooby-Doo. But obscurity is still cool.

Me too, even though the splits lasted 2 seasons on NBC, I believe Scooby Doo beat it out in the ratings. Another Hanna Barbera show .( Was Hanna-Barbera winning or losing?)

Love this song! How could a kids TV show get an ending tune of this melancholy beauty?

By not dumbing down to the demographic.

Saturday morning TV in the 60's was the best. We were so lucky. Cartoons that just made you want to run around the neighbourhood with Monkees, Archies and Banana Splits songs in your head all day. :)
