When She moves
The Bears Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Take my eyes they'll never see no better
Still frames can't justify
The shiver and the sigh
When she moves when she moves
Davinci threw his brushes down in anger
Picasso threw his hands up in defeat
A captive bird may sing
When she moves when she moves
Here I stand with lead in my heart and hands
I cannot fly with her
And I would speak her name but my tongue is numb
And my brain is frozen
She turns her head, a silver bell is ringing
A gesture and fish leap into the air
She walks, a symphony performing silently
When she moves when she moves
The Bear's song "When she moves" is a poetic description of a woman who is so captivating that the singer is unable to express his admiration for her. The lyrics suggest that the woman's beauty is so outstanding that it is almost divine, as the singer says, "Strike me down I'm worshipping an image." He admits that he is unable to take in her beauty fully as "Still frames can't justify the shiver and the sigh." The first verse illustrates the woman's effect on people, but she is not aware of it. The singer compares her to geniuses of art who are stunned by her beauty, "Davinci threw his brushes down in anger/ Picasso threw his hands up in defeat".
The second verse portrays a sense of longing that the singer can't put forward towards the woman. He is unable to communicate his feelings because of his numb tongue and a frozen brain. The woman is so beautiful that she can affect the environment around her. "A gesture and fish leap into the air/ She walks, a symphony performing silently," accentuating the power she has to influence those around her. He concludes the song with "When she moves when she moves", expressing that he can't help but be awestruck by the woman.
