Most may not remember what a HUGE HUGE hit this song was for Ringo. There was a brief time in 1973 when, if you turned on the radio, there was about a 50% chance you would hear this song. Everyone loved it.

I know this is about a break up. But I lost my 26 year old son to cancer on the 7th. He was so much more than my son. From the day he was born he was my little helper, my best friend, my reason for living. I love my wife and daughter more than anything. But my son means a bit more. Usually when a loved one passes I pray for them to come back. Now I pray to be with him. Before I wanted to live forever, not so much now. R.I.P C.D.M. love you bub. God bless.

I would guess that most of us focus on Ringo's incredible vocal on this song. But if you listen close, we Beatles fans can hear George's unmistakable voice singing harmony right behind him, right from the first word of the first verse. It's spooky, and gives me chills. I don't know why, but I always get choked up when I hear this song. And yet I listen to it over and over, like now. Indeed, sometimes all we have is a photograph of a dearly departed loved one, even if that "photograph" is just a song that so profoundly reminds us of them.

This song recalls my first girlfriend who passed away in the mid-60s at the age of 13/14. I still have her photograph fresh in my memories.She was always respected loved and cherished….and still is to this day. She is resting peacefully along with her mom n dad in Milwaukee.Richard Starkey aka Ringo did a superb job on this track.

It is amazing how emotion a song like this can stir up in a person. It actually brings me to tears when I heard this again after so many years, I remember my mom used to enjoy Honey I miss you by Bobby Goldsboro which is also quite emotional and brings me to tears when I remember the verbal abuse she would suffer from my dad. It was generally bad but absolutely evil when he was drinking. A simple song but brilliant. It makes me think of my son and daughter and even if I was angry with my ex wife all the bad emotions seem to fade and all the joy, fun, laughter and even some sadness makes me feel like everything else doesn't matter only family. I would do it all over again but I really would focus on being the best husband and father.

It is my understanding, based on what I have read, that Harrison's disillusionment was just as much a factor in the breakup, which was due to his talents taking a backseat to the Lennon-McCartney duo, who took the monopoly more or less, putting out 99% of the songs. Had The Beatles taken the Harrison lead on the songs they'd have stayed true to their roots, not gone pop with those sappy tunes, but stuck with the songs they played in England and Germany in '62, well before their name was known

The injuries and what I went through the final month was devastating.
The main reason I made it this far has been my wife who married me anyhow.

The photographs? I have some and they make me wish I could have treated her better all these years.

So many wonderful touching comments about this song. To me it does stir in me happy, yet also melancholy feelings, of my youth. fun times, lost loves , lost loved ones, unfulfilled dreams. It's a very powerful song . I love the sound of it, love hearing it, yet must be ready to deal with all the emotions I feel, the losses, the loneliness, the youthful years gone so quickly, whenever I hear it. Ringo is one of my all time favorite rock legends, he does a great job with this timeless song.

Saw Ringo in concert in kansas city mo (6 or 7 years ago?). Ringo is very engaging, energetic, a good sense of humor. I sit by a very fun, well dressed woman and we sang sing along, having lots of fun. My daughter in law told me later "she" was a he, a cross dresser. SO WHAT! We had alot of fun. 😃

I won tickets to see Ringo perform at University of South Florida in the early 2000s when I was a teen. I’m 35 but I love “oldies” music. My dad went with me and he opened the show with this song. It’s one of my best memories. He took a picture of the audience just before he started the song. It was the first time I heard it. I’ve loved it ever since.

I think the Beatles men were faithful once they found the right woman.  Paul sowed his wild oats (as did Linda) but serendipitously they found one  another and that was that.  Cynthia was John's art school girl-friend who got pregnant and he married her.  Then he met Yoko (no, I don't understand it either) but it lasted.  George had to relinquish Patti Boyd to Eric Clapton but stayed faithful to Olivia and Ringo has clearly found his long term match in Barbara Bach after marrying his child-hood sweet-heart. 

By today's standards these guys are extraordinarily emotionally continent, faithful and true.

Divorce is like that.  It shakes up everything.  It drives a coach and horses through what you once thought were friendships and the losses go way beyond the big one.  I can remember losing my much-loved in-laws, shared friends, status, money, even a place at a table at my son's primary school.  At the summer social get-together I sat and ate my food alone at an infant sized table and my former couple "friends" were more than happy to let me walk home alone and bring my son back later.

I assume every intelligent, caring person does.  No-one starts out married life with the thought "Oh, OK, I may have a few kids and a nice life in a house we chose together but then I will divorce.  Seems reasonable."

It is a difficult one because usually one person calls time and that person has to take responsibility and gets blamed but, unless actual abuse is involved, it is complex.  Relationships break down over time.  You get to a point of no return.

I think Ringo was forgiven with Maureen but in Liverpool he is not well liked ,said a few bad things about the city that made him famous. he apologized for it . I saw him do this song live in concert on one of his All Starr Band tours. He introduced it by saying George wrote most of it, but he had come up with the idea and "some of the lyrics." Sounds like a co-written song to me. Sir Ringo is brilliant no matter what anybody says.
