Moonglow
The Benny Goodman Quartet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Dear one, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"

We seemed to float right through the air
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere
And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue
I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you

It must have been moonglow, way up in the blue
It must have been moonglow that led me straight to you
I still hear you sayin', "Sweet child, hold me fast"
And I keep on prayin', "Oh Lord, please let this last"

We seemed to float right through the air
Heavenly songs seemed to come from everywhere

And now when there's moonglow, way up in the blue
I'll always remember, that moonglow gave me you

You got THAT right!

@tanyasimon595

I recall it was the song that was highlighted in the film "PICNIC" with William Holden and Kim Novak--they had a dance sequence using this song. Brilliant.

Let me tell you, there is nothing more nostalgic and beautiful as hearing this song on a record player.

Finding a pressing in good condition may be hard to do. Also most people don't have a 78 RPM stylus. There are plenty of ceramic cartridges out there but finding a GE 78 RPM magnetic would be cool. Stereo cartridges should not be used on 78 RPM records

@1953childstar

@Craig Kopcho The best was a Webster Chicago changer with a GE cartridge, in a Magnavox console with 2- 12" speakers. All tubes and a push pull output amp..
