The Blackout Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
These arms still heavy from what carried us before
Could use a breath from the old and familiar
Before we tire out
Still sinking fast without this line
We'll let this play again
A half cry from the bottom up won't make a sound
We'll follow my lead tonight
We'll let this play again
Bring back the same old sense that used to feed the evening
Another night of loosened tongues and swimming heads
Could use a breath from the old and familiar
Before we tire out
Still sinking fast without this line
We're screaming out
We'll fall in or fall out
The lyrics of The Blackout Pact's song "If You Dress Up Like Halloween Ghouls Will Try And Get In Your Pants" denote a longing to revert back to familiar times and emotions. The singer seems to have lost touch with their senses, conveying that their arms still feel heavy from what they carried before. They crave the old and familiar, wanting to feel like they did in the past. The line "Still sinking fast without this line" could refer to the singer feeling like they are losing themselves without their past experiences.
In the chorus, the band expresses a desire to relive the past. The line "We'll let this play again" suggests a willingness to listen to old songs or revisit memories. The repetition of the "A last chance at falling out" line shows a reluctance to let go of the past, wanting to prolong the feeling of nostalgia.
The second verse brings to light the singer's desire to recreate the same sense of community and closeness they once experienced. The line "Another night of loosened tongues and swimming heads" implies that they miss social gatherings and the emotional freedom that comes with it. The chorus is repeated, with the singer pleading to "Bring back the same old sense that used to feed the evening" before they "tire out" and lose themselves completely.
Overall, the lyrics suggest a bittersweet yearning for the past, a desire to relive past emotions and experiences that have now faded away.
