Lose Myself
The Blood Moon Howlers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Those city lights too bright just ain't with it yet
Hide myself away until the wind shifts track
Cravings at the helm buried in a chest
See I don't got the words but I hear you well babe

She said time to go beyond those programmed thoughts
Your actions are your own you're gonna do it again
Time to seek distraction elsewhere now babe
Another round of spirits in the old west

She said I wear my skeletons on my sleeve babe
Don't mind the cheap seats there're cloaking aces
I wear my skeletons on my sleeve babe
Won't lose myself today, lose myself today, won't lose it today

She said gather round Robertson while people stare
You're historical soul drag me to that show
In the chapel next door choir down on the floor
There's nothing to forget, wish I remembered more

She said I wear my skeletons on my sleeve babe
Don't mind the cheap seats there're cloaking aces

I wear my skeletons on my sleeve babe
Won't lose myself today, lose myself today, won't lose it today

Overall Meaning

In "Lose Myself," The Blood Moon Howlers delve into themes of self-discovery, escapism, and the search for personal identity. The opening lines suggest a dissatisfaction with the urban environment, where the brightness of the city lights fails to resonate with the singer. The singer feels the need to retreat and wait for a change in circumstances, suppressing their desires and burying their emotions deep within.

However, there is a sense of connection and understanding with another person, even without the ability to express themselves fully. The line "See I don't got the words but I hear you well babe" implies a deep emotional bond that transcends verbal communication. This relationship encourages the singer to challenge their preconceived notions and break free from the confines of societal norms. The urge for distraction and exploration becomes paramount, symbolized by the reference to "spirits in the old west."

The idea of wearing one's skeletons on their sleeve signifies a willingness to be open and vulnerable, suggesting that the singer embraces their past experiences and mistakes. The mention of "cheap seats" cloaking aces reflects the idea that superficial appearances can deceive, and there is more depth and strength within oneself than meets the eye. The repeated refrain of not losing themselves today reinforces the determination to remain true to their identity, regardless of the challenges they may face.

Overall, "Lose Myself" encapsulates the journey of self-discovery, the desire for freedom, and the importance of embracing one's past to shape a stronger sense of self.

Love lead singers voice. Thats about it!! Drummer is boring. Keyboard/backup singer has a great voice. Be a million times better with some coaching. But she is a natural, so wont the much. Thats about all the talent I see wither. Oh, loose the hat. Went out in 80's. Never came back. You are trying to hard. Lead singer is gold! He is a natural also but could some voice recognition. In some bars he's like a lead on sentence. Overall this ban in Hollywood will be picked like Apple tree. Only the best get picked!
