1) A punk rock band from Japan:
THE BLUE HEARTS (ザ・ブルーハーツ) was a popular Japanese upbeat punk rock band. Its members were Hiroto Kōmoto (vocalist), Masatoshi Mashima (guitarist), Jun'nosuke Kawaguchi (Bassist) and Tetsuya Kajiwara (Drummer). The group made its major debut in May 1987. THE BLUE HEARTS broke up in 1995 and Koumoto and Mashima went on to found another band, ↑THE HIGH-LOWS↓.
Some of their songs are popular, especially Train-Train which nowadays can be found in many karaoke boxes. One of their songs Linda Linda was used in the 2005 Nintendo DS video game Ouendan, the 2004 drama Sekai no chūshin de, ai wo sakebu and the 2005 film Linda Linda Linda. A portion of the song is also used as the theme song for the podcast Ctrl+Alt+Chicken.
Recently Hiroto Kômoto (vocal) and Masatoshi Mashima (guitar) left The High-Lows and founded another band named ザ・クロマニヨンズ which have released three singles and two albums so far.
Hiroto also made a short solo carreer which lasted for about 4 month. He released a single.

The Blue Hearts's "Rokudenashi" speaks of the struggles faced by those who are viewed as useless, talentless and as outcasts in society. The first verse portrays the difficulties of fitting in through the lines "called useless and the worst, unable to act appropriately or even fake a smile." The second verse continues to amplify this point showing how they are perceived as helpless and incapable of existing within society’s constraints, "called stupid, and no good at fitting into the world." The chorus then unites those who are viewed as substandard, calling them outcasts and rejects that are allowed to be just as they are.
The third verse addresses the pain that comes with being viewed as different and underqualified, but learns to overcome it through the lyrics "once the initial pain disappears, everything will be okay, you could even become like Hitler if you wanted to." The fourth verse shows that no matter how hard one tries, the society continues to view them the same, but it doesn't matter to them as they would still survive either way.
Overall, the song conveys a message of individualism and self-love, even for those that society deems worthless, reminding listeners that being yourself is all that matters, no matter how much society tries to convince you otherwise.
