Here Comes Santa Claus
The Blue Jeans Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer
Are pulling on the rein

Bells are ringing, children singing
All is merry and bright
Hang up your stockings and say your prayers
'Cause Santa Claus is coming tonight (Santa Claus comes tonight)

Here comes Santa Claus
Here comes Santa Claus
Right down Santa Claus Lane
He's got a bag that is filled with toys
For the boys and girls again

Hear those sleigh bells jingle jangle
What a beautiful sight
Jump in your bed, cover up your head
'Cause Santa Claus is coming tonight (Santa Claus comes tonight)

Here comes Santa Claus!
Here comes Santa Claus!
Right down Santa Claus Lane!
He doesn't care if you're rich or poor
He loves you just the same

Santa knows that you're God's children
That makes everything right

Fill your hearts with Christmas cheer
'Cause Santa is coming tonight (Santa Claus comes tonight)

Overall Meaning

The song, "Here Comes Santa Claus," is a festive, upbeat tune written by Gene Autry and Oakley Haldeman. The song is perfect for Christmas celebrations, as it captures the excitement and anticipation of Santa's arrival on Christmas Eve.

The lyrics in the song convey the joyous atmosphere that arises during Christmastime. The line "Here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane" evokes an image of Santa Claus, with his long white beard and red outfit, riding in his sleigh, pulled by his famous reindeer, Vixen and Blitzen. The lyrics, "Bells are ringing, children singing, all is merry and bright," further adds to the jolly ambiance of Christmas.

The song also highlights the spirit of kindness and compassion that should be ever-present during the holiday season. The lyrics, "He doesn't care if you're rich or poor, he loves you just the same. Santa knows that you're God's children, and that makes everything right," suggest that Santa Claus is a symbol of hope in times of darkness and that Christmas is a time for love and togetherness.

I remember when I finished for nursery (kindergarten) in 2007-2009 every December night I used to ask my mother to play this song. I never know why as it is such an unpopular song, but it’s always been special to me. I come back every year in Nov/Dec to listen to it and I just get instant nostalgia. I really celebrate Christmas like it’s my last Etc.

A great version of "Here Comes Santa Claus" you rarely hear nowadays, and that's unfortunate.
