Going back to Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl (Going back to my girl)
I said I'm going back to Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl (Going back to my girl)

I've got to get back to my baby
And take her in my arms again
I've got to get back to my baby
I ain't seen her since I don't know when
Got to get back now to Florida
Lay out in the morning Sun
Got to get back to Miami
Have a whole lotta fun
Going back to Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl, com on (Going back to my girl)
I said I'm going back to my Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl (Going back to my girl)
Look out

I'm going back to Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl (Going back to my girl)
I said I'm going back to Miami (Going back to Miami)
Going back to my girl (Going back to my girl)

Gotta gotta gotta get back (Gotta gotta gotta get back)
I gotta gotta gotta get back (Gotta gotta gotta get back)
Gotta gotta gotta get back (Gotta gotta gotta get back)
Gotta gotta gotta get back (Gotta gotta gotta get back)
Look out!

Overall Meaning

The Blues Brothers’ “Going Back to Miami” is a song about a man who is homesick for his girlfriend in Miami. He expresses his longing to see her again and the excitement of returning to the city where they shared many memorable moments. The lyrics are simple and direct but they come alive with the energy and enthusiasm of the singers.

The song’s opening verse sets the tone as the singer announces his intention to return to Miami and reunite with his girlfriend. He is keenly aware of how much he misses her and the desire to hold her again is all-consuming. The second verse reaffirms the singer’s eagerness to return to his lover, who he hasn’t seen in a while. He looks forward to basking in the sun in Florida and spending quality time with her while having a lot of fun.

The chorus repeats the singer’s intention to go back to Miami and his girlfriend, emphasizing his longing and excitement. The refrain "gotta get back" reinforces the urgency and determination to return to the loving arms of his girlfriend. It's 106 miles to Miami, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. HIT IT

The Best.

With "Guitar", "Bones", "Blue Lou", "Mr. Fabulous" ...etc. (the enormously talented group of musicians that WERE the rythm and horn section) there was no way you could have anything less than an incredibly tight and flawless band. They didn't play the music, it was in the them (and it had to come out!)

This drum solo from 2:22🔥made me want to learn the drums. It's so in the pocket, just perfect.

Maravilhoso! Sempre me alegro ouvindo essa música.

@redfishradical

I always thought they just KILLED this tune! Brought monster energy & it was freaking TIGHT! Of course with much of Booker T & the MGs (hello! The Colonel!) what did you expect LOL! Also I loved that so many R&B & soul stars got the bumps in their careers that they so richly deserved. Back in the inconvenient vinyl days, I'd have to sit by the turn table so I could keep replaying this!
