Gemini
The Bomb Squad Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Twist one up now Gemini, spin it around again
Dust in the cloud your takin' me on oh yeah
Too caught up in your cyclone, and I wanna get down
Tear up my world every time I turn around

You do not need to surrender, just give into the thrill
Up in the cloud you're looking around yeah
Look at me like a stranger, are you gonna tear me down
Tear up my world every time you come around

Now you got me hooked, now you got me shook
Ooh yeah Gemini you know you got me hooked
Now you got me hooked, now you got me shook
Ooh yeah Gemini you know you got me hooked

Just don't know where we're going with the time that we spin
Going around and taking it in again yeah
More than just a tornado, it seemed like the finger of God
Pointing out all the love we could have had

A hundred miles an hour, how its drawn me in
Falling apart and building us up again
Too damn proud to believe that he won't ever come down
Tear up my world every time I turn around

Now you got me hooked, now you got me shook
Ooh yeah Gemini you know you got me hooked

Now you got me hooked, now you got me shook
Ooh yeah Gemini you know you got me hooked

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Bomb Squad's "Gemini" express the feeling of being drawn into a whirlwind romance with someone who is unpredictable and free-spirited. The title "Gemini" refers to the zodiac sign, which is known for having two distinct personalities. The song's speaker is caught up in a storm, seemingly caused by the person they are singing about - this "Gemini" figure - who takes them on a wild ride with their mercurial nature.

Throughout the song, the singer is torn between feeling swept up by the excitement of their romance and feeling uncertain about where it is going. They are fascinated by the wildness and unpredictability of the person they are singing about and the "cyclone" they create in their life, but at the same time they are wary of being "torn down" or "hooked" by someone who can also be a stranger.

Ultimately, the song seems to capture the thrill and danger of falling for someone who is complex and unpredictable, with all the potential rewards and pitfalls that come with that kind of relationship.

I remember when I was in high school I saw these guys everywhere. They were fantastic. I really hope they are all doing well. I remember amazing electric trumpet solos, kids going nuts, and general merriment. I played in garage bands around the Fairfield area and I'm pretty sure we opened for them at the Westport Teen Center one time.

Where did they go? I saw them on Saturday night live doing Sophistafunk. I thought they'd be here for a long time!
