Donning Halloween masks, Tiki Heads, and Day of the Dead regalia onstage, the fivesome tempered their retro-stylings with an update by way of The Ramones, The Pandoras, and Nuggets. Accompanied by frenzied Go Go girls, spitting flames, stage-diving, and destroying their own equipment, the Bomboras’ livid funhouse take on 145 Surf became an object of fan adoration, but a pest to the LAPD, who targeted the band’s outrageous shows much as they have targeted other ‘dangerous’ LA bands, most memorably Black Flag.
The Bomboras took their name from a classic surf instrumental by the Original Surfaris (not to be confused with a different song with the same title, "Bombora," by the Australian surf combo The Atlantics) and released several albums on Dionysus Records between 1995 and 1997. Rob Zombie took notice of the band and signed them to his then newly-formed Zombie a Go-Go label, which was distributed by Geffen Records. The Bomboras finally called it quits in 2000 with some of the members forming The Lords of Altamont and some continuing rocking as the Legendary Invisible Men.
On December 31st, 2006, New Years Eve of 2007, The Bomboras played a return show in Hollywood.

The Bomboras's version of "Little Drummer Boy" is an interpretation of the classic Christmas carol. The lyrics describe the arrival of the newborn King and the offerings from the Wise Men. The singer, a poor boy, cannot present anything valuable to the King, but offers to play his drum as a way of honoring the newborn. Mary gives her approval, and the animals keep in time with the boy's drumming. The boy plays his best for the baby King, and in return, the baby smiles at him.
The "Little Drummer Boy" is a timeless classic that has been interpreted by many artists over the years. The Bomboras bring their signature surf sound to the song and give it a new twist. In their version, the song takes on a more festive and upbeat tone, while still maintaining the reverent spirit of the original song.
One interesting fact about "Little Drummer Boy" is that it was composed by Katherine K. Davis in 1941. It was written as a melody inspired by a Czech carol, and the lyrics were later added by Davis and two other collaborators. The song has since become a Christmas standard that is played on radio stations and in department stores during the holiday season. Additionally, the song has been covered by a wide variety of artists such as Bing Crosby, The Jackson 5, Johnny Cash, and Pentatonix.
