Described as “beautiful, stylish stuff that just might infiltrate your daydreams” by the Fort Worth Star Telegram and “that strange collective with a penchant for writing the most radio-friendly songs this side of L.A.” by the Dallas Observer, The Bright - at its core - is always about delivering hooks, both familiar and unique with a certain unpredictability that is tasteful, emotional, memorable and relatable. Drawing from an array of British Rock eras and influences, the vocal dynamic ranges from breathy chill, to sexy modern pop, to intense and even at times operatic (as reflected by their ambitious cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir”) with an underlay of dreamy/thick guitar swirls and powerful rhythms. The band has also solidified a cross-over appeal by performing alongside artists that range from eclectic producer/recording artist Timbaland at Dallas’ House of Blues and classic rocker Billy Squier at DFW’s Verizon Theatre to performing in front of hundreds of thousands viewing the main stage and television broadcast at one of the country’s largest New Year’s celebrations, Big D NYE ( www.bigdnye.com ), outside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, TX.
After releasing their debut LP in 2007, “In Lucid Dreams”, the band was approached by MTV and Fox Sports to license songs from the album for use in the networks’ programming. Since then, The Bright’s songs have been featured in MTV’s “The Hills”, “Parental Control”, “Teen Cribs”, “My Sweet Sixteen”, the multi-platform broadcast / V-cast Verizon Network supernatural series “Valemont” and Fox Sports’ Vizio Profiles. The Bright has also received prominent airplay in the L.A. market on KKZQ 100.1 The Edge, in Grand Rapids, MI on WGRD 97.9, via the web on the Renegade Radio Network as well as abroad via radio segments hosted by English music journalist Kelv Hellrazor.
The Bright has also partnered with the social network Share The Mic (www.sharethemic.com), an organization that brings together artists, charities and foundations into a unique network that mutually supports an artist’s drive to build a fan base and a charitable institution’s need to raise awareness. Through this relationship, the band has been matched with the charity Autism Speaks, an advocacy organization the band is very passionate about.
Currently the band is in the studio recording new material set for release in early 2011. Their latest self-released effort “In Lucid Dreams”, produced by Eric Jenkins, engineered by Taylor Tatsch at Bass Propulsion Labs in Dallas, TX is available for download on iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster and Amazon.

Ela
The Bright Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
olvido apagar el rumor.
Hambre para desayunar,
el vacío va a comenzar.
Calles distintas hacia otro lugar,
sobra espacio para describir.
Un día en blanco más
donde esperas la misma ciudad.
ponte a vigilar si el día no quiere empezar.
Aún quedan tardes, pon una taza más.
Cuantas veces cambió sobre el mismo color.
Sigue mirando atrás,
ese pulso es su reloj.
Por favor, baja el telón,
ponte a vigilar si el día no quiere empezar.
Por favor, si vuelves baja el telón,
ponte a vigilar si el día no quiere empezar.
The Bright's song "Ela" speaks about a person, presumably Ela, who struggles to wake up and start their day. The lines "Ya es hora y Ela no quiere despertar" translate to "It's time and Ela doesn't want to wake up." Ela forgot to turn off the noise and starts the day hungry, with a void that is about to begin. The next lines, "Calles distintas hacia otro lugar, sobra espacio para describir" can be interpreted as Ela traveling to a new place, but feeling lost and unsure. Ela is experiencing another blank day where they expect to face the same city.
The chorus, "Por favor, baja el telón, ponte a vigilar si el día no quiere empezar" translates to "Please close the curtain, start watching if the day doesn't want to start." The singer is asking Ela to keep an eye on the day and take control of it. They suggest that there are still afternoons left, and to "pon una taza mas" or "put one more cup." The line "Cuantas veces cambió sobre el mismo color" could refer to Ela feeling stuck in the same routine, and the line "Sigue mirando atrás, ese pulso es su reloj" means that Ela is constantly looking back and stuck to their routine.
The chorus repeats at the end, but with a slight change. "Por favor, si vuelves baja el telón, ponte a vigilar si el día no quiere empezar" translates to "Please close the curtain if you come back, start watching if the day doesn't want to start." This line signifies that even if Ela returns after their travels, they must take charge of their day and not let it control them.
