I Guess I'm Crazy
The Browns Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I guess I'm crazy for loving you
you tell me many ways that I won't do
I may be playing a losing game
I guess I'm crazy but I'll never change.

I don't dare let you go
It's unfair this I know
I don't care if it's so,
It has to be.

My heart keeps saying
That I'm a fool
I guess I'm crazy
For loving you.

I don't dare let you go
It's unfair this I know
I don't care if it's so,
It has to be.

My heart keeps saying
That I'm a fool

I guess I'm crazy
For loving you...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Browns' song, "I Guess I'm Crazy," describe a person who is deeply in love with someone who may not reciprocate their feelings. Despite being told in various ways that they won't succeed in their pursuit of love, the person is willing to play a losing game and be labelled as crazy because they cannot let go of their love for the other person. The first verse acknowledges the irrationality of the situation by admitting, "I guess I'm crazy for loving you," indicating that the person knows their love is illogical, but is unable to change their feelings.

The second verse explores the internal struggle of the person as they grapple with the idea of letting go of their love. They know deep down that it's unfair to keep holding on when the other person may not feel the same way, but they can't bring themselves to let go. The chorus reiterates the tug of war happening within the person's heart, as it keeps telling them they are a fool for persisting in their love, yet they can't help but feel crazy for loving someone who may never love them back.

Overall, "I Guess I'm Crazy" poignantly depicts the emotional vulnerability of loving someone who doesn't love you back, and the internal struggle to let go of that love.

I am glad to see this upload, I have always loved this song. It was written by our good friend and member of the Louisiana Hayride, Werley Fairburn.  We sung it many times on the Hayride and was glad that Chet let us record it,  (Maxine)

I did not know that the Browns ever recorded this song till today. They had such incredibly clean and clear voices. I really thought that Jim Reeves and Faron Young were the only two artists who recorded this song. I just posted my cover version of this song. Stop by and check it out if you are interested.....Terry
