Morning
The Browns feat. Jim Ed Brown Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'll meet you in the morning by the bright riverside
When all sorrow has drifted away
I'll be standing at the portals when the gates open wide
At the end of life's long dreary day.

I'll meet you in the morning with a how do you do
And we'll sit down by the river
And when all the rapture old aquaintance renewed
You'll know me in the morning by the smile that I wear
When I meet you in the morning
In the city that is built four square.

--- Instrumental ---

I'll meet you in the morning at the end of the way
On the streets of that city of gold
Where we all can be together and be happy once more
While the years and the ages shall roll.

I'll meet you in the morning with a how do you do
And we'll sit down by the river
And when all the rapture old aquaintance renewed
You'll know me in the morning by the smile that I wear

When I meet you in the morning
In the city that is built four square...

Thanks to all who have commented and liked this.  I enjoy the bluegrass sound it has, as well as listening to Jim Ed's low note & Bonnie's high tenor.  She is still bending those notes which helped define The Brown Sound.  Sounding good after all these years. (Maxine)

This gets better every time I listen. I love hearing Jim Ed hit that LOW note, and Bonnie's HIGH tenor.  We all go through some storms in our life, but this one tells such a beautiful story. It seems to mean more now than it did 20 years ago when we recorded it. Hang on, times will get better, thanks everyone.  (Maxine)

I am so proud to see this on youtube. Bonnie & I came out of retirement to record this LP with Jim Ed for MCA-Dot. It was produced by Billy Strange. What a thrill to get back in a recording studio once more. We previewed this song on Ralph Emery TV show. This is one I think you, the fans, will enjoy. (Maxine Brown)

If this song came out in 86 I've got song by the Browns covering just over thirty years.  They were super in the mid fifties and they still are.  Followed them through such songs as Jungle Magic and Bluebirds sing but when Three Bells came out the world almost stopped.
