The Train Song
The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Six more days and I'll be gone
Get on the train that'll take me home
That old train is where I belong
Home's gonna feel just fine

When that old trains gonna move me down the line
Yes I know him and you do too
There's a lot he can do for you
Looking down from on his throne
Gonna make you feel alright
Just let him keep his arms around you tight

He gave this world to you and me
We're going fishing in the creek
So find yourself a little girl

The world's gonna be alright
Just keep you arms around each other tight

I got here from reading the Leon Russell bio😮 book by Bill Janovitz (2023). Leon plays on this.

I’m reading Hillman’s autobiography, Time Between, had to hear this while reading about it

@bglrj

My favorite FBB song!

@Bobjb999

Jimmy Page's white dragon suit he wore onstage in the 1970s after he became a junkie was evidently inspired by and derived from Gram Parson's white Nudie suit he wears here, the suit that depicts Gram's fave drugs. Jimmy liked Gram's red opium poppies best and put some similar blossoms on his own white suit, adding a dragon.

Hermesacat wow, I’m a huge jimmy and FBB fan. How cool

@margaretross9150

The tailor who sewed the suit called it "Gram's roadmap to death."
