The Camels released their debut album All You Ever Needed in 2004, produced by Tim Powles (The Church). National radio broadcaster Triple J put four tracks from the album on high rotation.
In 2005, The Camels performed 119 shows around the country, 67 of those on their “Surfari" tour (presented by Quiksilver & Triple J) which built a loyal national fanbase. Their efforts landed them supports with Cake and local legends The Hoodoo Gurus.
In 2006, they wrote and recorded two songs for the Australian documentary, Bra Boys. Lead vocalist and guitarist Jamie Holt wrote 18 pieces for the film's original score. The new Camels songs were featured on the soundtrack for the movie in 2007, alongside other Australian bands The Butterfly Effect, Grinspoon and Parkway Drive.
The Camels released The Romance EP in 2007, which featured their most popular song "Times We Had", from the Bra Boys OST.
They are currently signed to Roadshow Music.

Romance
The Camels Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
When you say that im
That im your sweetheart
I only feel like i die
Where...
where you go when I
When I try to give
You my love oh girl
My heart is broke
For you and
It won't be the same... again
How...
How can i sleep
If all I think
Is about you and me
Why...
I always fall
In love if
I Know the end... of this game
Why I always fall
In love if I
Know the end... of this game
Throughout "Romance" by The Camels, it seems as though the singer is in a tumultuous place concerning technology and romance. The opening lines, "It's automatic / There's too much static / Ooh your signal's fading / Life is more baiting / Ooh your signal's fading," indicate the difficulty the singer is having picking up a signal from their love interest. The next lines, "Remote remote / Romance romance," suggest that technology is getting in the way of true romance, reducing it to a series of remote buttons pressed in order to achieve an end.
Then the song goes on to say "Rush-button passion / I won't repeat it / Wait a minute / Wait a minute now." It appears that there's a sense of immediacy here, a rush to press buttons and find the solution, the solution which the singer won't repeat. "It's just a sequence / It makes no real sense / It's just a sequence / It makes no real sense." There's a sense that even though there's a sequence, that following it won't guarantee the desired result, that it's all becoming a jumbled mess.
Finally, "It's automatic / There's too much statix / Can't get no feedback / I'm on the wrong track / Wait a minute / It don't make a lot of sense / Just a sequence / It makes no real sense." Nothing is clearly being communicated - interference causes poor reception and no feedback is given. It's clear the singer is lost in some way and cannot seem to find a way to connect with the object of their affection.
