Remember me
Ohh, ooh Lord
Remember me
Remember me
Remember me
Ohh, ohh Lord
Father, I stretch
My hands to thee
No other, no other help
I know
If thou withdraw thyself
From me, ohh
Tell thee where
Tell thee where shall I go
Remember me, oh Lord
Remember me, oh Lord
Remember me, oh Lord
Remember me
The Caravans's gospel hymn Remember Me is a prayerful plea to God to always remember the singer, no matter the circumstances. The song opens with the simple yet poignant repetition of the phrase "Remember me" over an ethereal, soulful backing choir. This initial refrain is then followed by a more elaborate but no less heartfelt entreaty from the singer to God. The lyrics convey a sense of desperation and urgency to be remembered by God, with the singer stating that they have no other help but God and that if God were to withdraw his presence from them, they would be lost and directionless. The song is a testament to the enduring faith that many believers have in the power of prayer and the strength that comes from a sincere relationship with God.
Interestingly, the song's origins can be traced back to the 19th century, when the hymn "Remember Me, O My God" was written by Thomas Haweis. This hymn was later adapted by African American slaves in the United States, who infused it with their own experiences of oppression, hardship, and faith. The Caravans's version of the song was first released in 1962 and has since become a beloved gospel classic, covered by numerous other artists and featured in various film and TV productions.

My hands to thee

Another dialysis patient was humming this during our session. My blood pressure had dropped and I was feeling terrible. This song ministered to my inner spirit and my strength returned. It's nothing like the old-time spirituals for the sick and downtrodden spirit. It'll lift you up everytime. I know God had that man hum this song during my time of need.

Thank you so much for blessing me with this song, I was listening to a sermon where the minister took us to several passages where it says, ‘And God remembered.’ That is what all who believe may say at one time or another and we may wonder; will He remember? Don’t lie to yourself it happens to all of us, Lord, do You remember me? But in His word He says, He will never forget. Hebrews 6:10
