The group played many parties and other events around Southern California during their run, their peak in business likely occurring during the surf music craze of 1963. They recorded an album, “Surfer’s Pajama Party”, while signed to Bob Keane’s Del-Fi label. The LP’s title and catalog number, however, were identical to another album recorded by Bruce Johnston’s Surfing Band, effectively dooming the release. Another album, “Battle Of The Surf Bands” (a split LP featuring mostly Centurians recordings) was released as well.
The band’s legacy is centered around a couple soundtracks, namely Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction (featuring “Bullwinkle Pt. 2), though the 70s cult classic Pink Flamingos (featuring their cover of the Revels hit “Intoxica”) is also somewhat responsible for the bands’ post ‘60s fandom.

Ah to be young, bronzed, amphetamine addled and part of the 60s surf scene, it must have been a wonderfully ripe time to be alive

I'm The Centurions Bari Sax player. Sixteen year old high school kids playing surf music at The Rendezvous Ballroom . You cannot imagine.

It was, but, a lot of folks got lost in the 'wonderfulness' of the time - and drugs was usually the culprit, though illicit sex with too many partners did not help, either.

+thecheatinghearts Would trade it for this techno/DJ/Hype-man club era scene that my generation advocates I be apart of any day of the week..

So right, like living in the real american's dream. Great girls, sun, drugs, and surfing, feels like movies.
