Hearts of Stone
The Charms Lyrics

Will never break
For the love you have for them
They just won't take
You can ask them please
Please please please break
And all of your love
Is there to take
Yes, hearts of stone
Will cause you pain
Although you love them
They'll stop you just the same
You can ask them please
Please please please break
And all of your love
Is there to take
But they'll say no no no no no no no no no no no no no
Everybody knows
I thought you knew
Hearts made of stone
Yes, hearts of stone
Will cause you pain
Although you love them
They'll stop you just the same
You can ask them please
Please please please break
And all of your love
Is there to take
But they'll say no no no no no no no no no no no no no
Everybody knows
I thought you knew
Hearts made of stone
"Hearts of Stone" is a song that describes the pain of loving someone who is incapable of reciprocating love. The opening line, "Hearts made of stone will never break," sets the tone of the song by suggesting that some people are simply incapable of feeling love. It depicts how even if you beg them to take your love, it will fall on deaf ears. The song's lyrics go on to say that these individuals can often be cruel, causing you pain while knowing how much you care about them. The line "Although you love them, they'll stop you just the same" suggests that some people with hearts of stone can become manipulative and cruel due to their inability to feel love.
In the chorus, the phrase "please please please break" implies that the singer is begging for some sort of emotional response from the person they're singing about. However, the words "But they'll say no no no" suggest that the person with a heart of stone will remain emotionally distant, ultimately causing heartache for the person trying to love them.
Overall, "Hearts of Stone" is a sad song that speaks to the pain of loving someone who is incapable of loving in return. It sheds light on the reality that not everyone we love will feel the same way about us, and that some people can be emotionally unavailable.

Tuddy: You know this kid?
Mailman: Yeah.
Tuddy: You know where he lives?
Mailman: Yeah.
Tuddy: Delivering mail to his house?
Mailman: Yeah.
Tuddy: From now on, any letter from that school to that kid's house comes directly here. Do you understand?
Mailman: Yeah!
Tuddy: Another letter from that school goes to that kid's house, in a fucking oven you'll gonna go, head first!
(freeze frame)
Henry: (narrates) That was it. No more letters from the truant officers, no more letters from school, in fact no more letters from anybody. Finally after the next couple of weeks, my mother went to post office and complained.
