This song was written by and first recorded by a group called the Jewels. It was originally a gospel song they reworked as a pop song. But the Charms record is the one that became a hit. The Jewels did a nice job on the song but I love the spare simple interpretation of this group the best.

ON THE JEWELS' 45 IT HAS HEARTS OF STONE AS THE 'B' SIDE, 'A' SIDE IS A TRACK CALLED RUNNIN'. MAYBES THE DJ'S AT THE TIME WERE CONFUSED. ALSO THE JEWELS WERE FROM THE WEST COAST WHILST THE CHARMS WERE AN ESTABLISHED EAST COAST GRP SO WERE ABLE TO RELEASE IT WITHOUT TOO MUCH COMPETITION FROM A SMALLER WEST COAST LABEL WITH POOR NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION

There were no mini skirts then but he still had a great time dancing with his girlfriend. He also liked Hattiemalle by lee diamond and all the songs of this era. What great times.

I love doo wop I grew up on it. My father Mark Luciano was the baritone for The Imaginations.
I sure miss him and the old days.
When I was a kid I got so tired of hearing doo wop.
