1. The Chicks is the new name adopted in June 2020 by the band formerly known as Dixie Chicks, a massively succesful American country music group that had crossed to other genres.
2. The Chicks were a New Zealand duo consisting of the sisters Suzanne and Judy Donaldson. They had a steam of pop hits in in their country between 1965 and 1970. Suzanne married Bruce Lynch and records as Suzanne Lynch. They are the parents of Andy Lynch from the New Zealand band Zed.
3. The Chicks were a shortlived pop-punk act in the late 1990s, made up of three teenage Irish girls. They arrived in a blaze of N.M.E. features and an Ash support slot, but disappeared as quickly and enigmatically as they arrived. They left behind two EPs and the bubblegum pop song, Let Me Go.
Let 'Er Rip
The Chicks Lyrics

It's killing you 'cause the words are hard to find
I know you want to break it to me gently
Well, sweet baby, say what's on your mind
(One, two, three)
Let 'er rip, let it fly
Come on, baby, say it
I ain't about to bawl, and I ain't gonna die
So if you're gonna say goodbye
Don't take all day and night
Let 'er rip, let it fly
Why the drama?
We don't have to drag out this situation
It wasn't you, it wasn't me
Sometimes the chemistry don't ignite
There ain't no rings, no morgage, there ain't any complications
It's just a hyphenated word
Get it out, I'm sure I'll be all right
Let 'er rip, let it fly
Come on, baby, say it
Do you think I'm I'm gonna cry?
I ain't about to bawl, and I ain't gonna die
So if you're gonna say goodbye
Don't take all day and night
Let 'er rip, let it fly
It ain't no big deal, it ain't no great loss
You and I are on the same train of thought
So you don't have to tell me where to get off
Maybe I misunderstood you
If you're leaving, baby, would you
Let 'er rip, let it fly
Come on, baby, say it
Do you think I'm gonna cry?
I ain't about to bawl, and I ain't gonna die
So if you're gonna say goodbye
Don't take all day and night
Let 'er rip, let it fly
So, if you're gonna say goodbye
Don't take all day and night
Let 'er rip, let it fly
The Chicks' song, "Let 'Er Rip," is about a confrontation where one person has a difficult truth to share with the other person. The singer is aware that something is bothering the other person and that they are having a hard time finding the right words to express it. The singer encourages the other person to be direct and just "let it rip", telling them that she won't cry or be upset if they have bad news, and that it's better to just get it over with so they can move on with their lives.
The repeated refrain, "let it rip, let it fly," is a mantra encouraging the other person to just be forthright and speak her mind. The singer is trying to make the other person feel comfortable enough to be vulnerable and honest, even if that means delivering bad news.
Despite the serious nature of the confrontation, the song has an upbeat tempo and an infectious melody, which makes it seem more like a catchy pop song than a serious conversation about ending a relationship.
