The Choir Boys Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
to the little lamb
Do you see what I see
Way up in the sky, little lamb
Do you see what I see
A star, a star
dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
Said the little lamb
to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Do you hear what I hear
Ringing through the sky
hepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear
Do you hear what I hear
song, a song high
above the trees
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea
Said the shepherd boy
to the mighty king,
Do you know what I know
Do you know what I know
In your palace warm mighty king
Do you know what I know
Do you know what I know
A Child, a Child
shivers in the cold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Let us bring him silver and gold
Said the king to the
people everywhere
Listen to what I say
Pray for peace
people everywhere
Listen to what I say
The Child, the Child
sleeping in the night
He will bring us
goodness and light
He will bring us
goodness and light
The lyrics to The Choir Boys's song "Do You Hear What I Hear?" depict a conversation between various characters about a miraculous event that they have all witnessed. The night wind asks the little lamb if it sees the star dancing in the sky with a tail as big as a kite. Next, the little lamb asks the shepherd boy if he hears the song ringing through the sky with a voice as big as the sea. Then, the shepherd boy tells the king that a child shivers in the cold, and suggests that they bring him silver and gold. Finally, the king asks people everywhere to listen to what he says and pray for peace because the child sleeping in the night will bring them goodness and light.
The song appears to be a modern retelling of the Nativity story, with each character being amazed and awed by the events that are unfolding before them. The lyrics encourage people to come together and seek peace, hope, and salvation in the child born on that holy night.
