Bassist Scott Waldman was born on Long Island, New York. He picked up the guitar when he was thirteen and now plays bass. After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree in April 2003, Scott moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of rocking full-time.
Hailing from West Covina, California, drummer Marc Precilla took his first piano lesson at age seven and after branching off to many other instruments, he discovered a partiality for hitting things as hard as he could, leading him to the drums. He has played in several rock/punk bands in order to craft his penchant for high-energy percussion and melody.
The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
In March 2004, The City Drive performed on the opening night of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas, alongside such bands as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, NOFX and Alkaline Trio. In June, they joined the Nokia Core Tour.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length in the summer of 2005 with Fudurich which features backing vocals by Rachel Haden of the now-defunct band That Dog (she also sang on Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" and has worked with Weezer and Beck). The album is set for release in Spring 2006.
In May 2007, Scott Waldman quit the band.
In January 2009 the band has appeared to have broken up. Danny is now solo and any mention of the band is pretty much wiped out. No official word came, it just happened.

No one's taking the place of you
Even though I am miles away
You should know that I'm always true
Count the days till I reach the end
Week by week in a satellite
And until I am back again
And I run
Run back to you
Yeah and I run
Run back to the one I love
This is the way I spent the day
Uh, huh
Did you too?
Running back to you
And when I dream
My eyes only see us
Do you too?
Running back to you
I wish that I could go back in time
To the city that's always cold
Time to leave but we stayed inside
Moving as though our bones were old
Trapped in ice in an avalanche
Here it comes, the pulse pounds and I'm ready to go
Mind fills up and it races fast
But it's erased the moment you close your eyes
And I run
Run back to you
Yeah and I run
Run back to the one I love
This is the way I spent the day
Uh, huh
Did you too?
Running back to you
And when I dream
My eyes only see us
Do you too?
Running back to you
You'll say
"Is it really you
Or am I dreaming?"
You're not dreaming
This is the way I spent the day
Uh, huh
Did you too?
Running back to you
And when I dream
My eyes only see us
Do you too?
Running back to you
Meet me in the dreamworld tonight
Meet me in the dreamworld tonight
The lyrics to The City Drive's song "Runner" express the singer's devotion to their loved one, even from a distance. The opening lines state that no one can take the place of the person to whom the singer is singing. They reiterate their faithfulness throughout the verse, stating that they are always true. The chorus, "And I run, run back to you," reinforces that sentiment, emphasizing the singer's desire to be with their love.
The second verse describes the singer's memories of a time spent together in a city that was "always cold." They recall moving slowly, as if their bones were old, and then feeling stuck, like they were trapped in ice or an avalanche. However, despite these dangers or difficulties, the singer says that they feel ready to go whenever they close their eyes and think of their love.
The repeated refrain of "This is the way I spent the day, uh-huh / Did you too, running back to you / And when I dream, my eyes only see us / Do you too, running back to you" drives home the idea of the singer's devotion, both during the day and in their dreams. They long for their love to feel the same way, to meet them in the dreamworld and to feel connected, even when they are apart.
