Bassist Scott Waldman was born on Long Island, New York. He picked up the guitar when he was thirteen and now plays bass. After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree in April 2003, Scott moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of rocking full-time.
Hailing from West Covina, California, drummer Marc Precilla took his first piano lesson at age seven and after branching off to many other instruments, he discovered a partiality for hitting things as hard as he could, leading him to the drums. He has played in several rock/punk bands in order to craft his penchant for high-energy percussion and melody.
The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
In March 2004, The City Drive performed on the opening night of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas, alongside such bands as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, NOFX and Alkaline Trio. In June, they joined the Nokia Core Tour.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length in the summer of 2005 with Fudurich which features backing vocals by Rachel Haden of the now-defunct band That Dog (she also sang on Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" and has worked with Weezer and Beck). The album is set for release in Spring 2006.
In May 2007, Scott Waldman quit the band.
In January 2009 the band has appeared to have broken up. Danny is now solo and any mention of the band is pretty much wiped out. No official word came, it just happened.
West Coast Wind
The City Drive Lyrics

It's not the end of time
From where I'm standing
You get so high
When you come undone
But don't unwind
Without me
The west coast wind tonight
Is back and bringing its thunder
When is it over?
You've beat this before
And you can once more
'Cause you're not stranded
Kiss goodbye
The shadow you're under
Believe in time
You'll get free
The west coast wind tonight
Is back and bringing its thunder
When is it over?
We'll break out of this place
You know I'll take you away
Til it is over
You wanna give up and run away
But you'll only make it if you stay
But before you can reach that dream
You'd better believe the storm's coming on
Storm is coming on
Storm is coming on..
The west coast wind tonight
Is back again bringing thunder
When is it over?
We'll break out of this place
You know I'll take you away
Til it is over
The City Drive's song West Coast Wind is about encouraging someone who is going through a tough time to not give up, to keep fighting and to believe the storm will pass. The lyrics convey a message of hope, reminding the listener that they are not alone in their struggles and that they have support. The first verse says "Put your pain aside, it's not the end of time," telling the listener to keep pushing through and not let their pain consume them. The second verse encourages the listener to "Kiss goodbye, the shadow you're under, believe in time you'll get free," inspiring them to let go of negative thoughts and trust that things will improve.
The chorus mentions the "west coast wind," which can be interpreted as a metaphor for the struggles and difficulties the person is facing. The wind is back and bringing its thunder, reiterating that the tough times have returned, but this time they have someone by their side. The song ends with the repeated phrase "When is it over?" which can be seen as a plea for the struggles to come to an end or a hopeful question, as if to say "when will the storm pass?"
