Burn Victims
The Color Morale Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They say the things that love you will never stay, is that really true?
I guess you made everyone leave before they could hurt you, but who taught this to you?
Hurting people will always be hurting people, it was you that made me me
Every storm made me soak to find strong roots, I am reminded, I am reminded
All my roots are starting to show yet I'm still trying to grow
And I am reminded, I am reminded there is still hope

And I hope one day you will understand pain is just a brand
I've given my life to keep it away from your skin
And I hope one day you will understand pain is never planned
And the start of a cycle is always the end when we are the victims

And that's how I know I need to write about this for you
The youth that never got told the truth
That's my problem, I've got intentions on both sides
Stitched together with lies and more songs left to write
Do things., write this time about how to untangle all the knots that we keep tied
My stomach is weak because you made me me and someone made you you
We are the victims and I am the hope

And I hope one day you will understand pain is just a brand
I've given my life to keep it away from your skin
And I hope one day you will understand pain is never planned
And the start of a cycle is always the end when we are the victims
And I hope one day you will understand pain is never planned
When the start of the cycle is always the end when we are the victims

You, you are the victim and I am still learning that I can be the hope

Overall Meaning

The Color Morale's "Burn Victims" is a song about the cycle of pain and how it can be perpetuated by those who have themselves been hurt. The lyrics begin by questioning the idea that the people who love you will never stay, suggesting that this may not be entirely true. The song then moves on to reflect on how the cycle of pain can be passed on, with the singer suggesting that they have been made who they are by someone else's hurt. Despite this, there is still hope that the cycle can be broken, and the singer hopes that one day they will be able to help others understand that pain is never planned and that they can be the hope for someone else.

The chorus of the song repeats the idea that pain is just a brand and that the start of a cycle is always the end when the victims are the ones affected. The singer has given their life to keep pain away from those they love and hopes that one day, they will be able to help others understand that pain is not something that should be passed on. The song ends with a message of hope, with the singer realizing that they too can be the hope for someone else.

Overall, "Burn Victims" is a powerful reflection on the cycle of pain and the importance of breaking it. It is a reminder that we all have the power to be the hope for others and that even in our darkest moments, there is always hope for a better tomorrow.

I never knew how much this band would change my life at 18. Now that I'm 30, it's awesome that these messages still get me through life today.

@glenjitsu1408

@enriquequiroga2824

My favorite TCM song ever. Like if you still listening on 2019!

@daehrren

This is one of my favorites as well. But my top 3 would be:
1. This Lost Song is Yours
2. Hopes Anchor (discovered this band with this song years ago)
3. Fill; Avoid

@enriquequiroga2824

@@daehrren I also discovered TCM with Hopes Anchors years ago!

@MrZz108

Okay this song has the low screams I was looking for. I don't like how this old album is 40% clean, 50% highs, and 10% lows. The lows are the reason why I fucking loved this band since their last album.

@lpfan4life0904

I dig the musical direction they're going. Even though the lows arent as prevalent compared to their previous albums, the times the lows do show up in the song makes it sound fucking sweet. The lows in this song and Smoke & Mirrors are perfectly timed. It just makes the songs sound more awesome.
