During the interview, Denni also talked a bit about the new Cruciatus Curse show set, his forthcoming album and the status of his feature project, "AVALANTIS". You can read all the juicy details beyond the break.

This morning I hopped on a call with Denni Towle who talked a bit about everything from his next album to what’s happening with his various movie projects.

You may have read last week here on Wizard Wireless News that Denni will be releasing a brand new song on iTunes entitled “Slytherock,” which was recorded for his new album "New Wizard Order".

“It came about like most of my parody songs do, I was driving in my car, listening to the radio, when "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha came on,” Denni explains. “But in this case I was already in the vibe of song writing, the lyrics pretty much just jumped off my tounge into the song. I was happy with what was flowing, so I raced home and recorded a sample on my computer. We had been recording at Getaway Studios for a while, but we really had not finished any songs yet. That song really became the domino effect to finish all of the songs.”

“Slytherock” is his first studio release in quite a while. The last chunk of his time has been spent recording a new album and prepping for the release of his record label's newest artist, Dark Alley Murder and their cd "Hear No Evil". Denni explains that the band is a muggle version of The Cruciatus Curse and still covers alot of parodies and original music.

“ I didn’t want anyone to think that it was the end of The Cruiatus Curse, but the begining of a new version of The Cruciatus Curse for the Muggle world. Putting the cd set together really made me appreciate what I am doing in wizard rock now even more. It was time to get the creative juices flowing when I found a window of time available, I just figured if not now, when?,” adding, “Dark Alley Murder is a little bit more edgy lyricaly than The Cruciatus Curse and alot more aldult, but it was a release of energy that I needed. We were always a band that was slightly out of time and out of step, so I think my music with The Cruciatus Curse has grown pretty well. I think we did a lot of good stuff in the beginning, very groundbreaking, but you know it just became this repeditive sound that just didn't catch people attention. Not a day goes by that I don't think back to the first song that I released as The Cruciatus Curse, and the feedback that we received was unbelievable. I love wizard rock and I will do it until I am physically forced from the stage!”

Denni continues talking a bit about the energy surrounding their current projects and how he thinks he has found the perfect duo of musicians to work with.

“In revisiting the older Crucaitus Curse stuff, [it] brought back a lot of things that I had forgotten about, unfortunately some of it negative. So it really make you appreciate what a great group of musicians and guys you are playing with now while I record my new record. It took 6 or so years but I feel like I have found the perfect two people to work with; Joe Ritchie and Christopher Forsythe."

The good news is that a new album is coming in summer of 2010 and that they’re close to finishing recording.

“We will probably be finished with the new CD by the end of April. The unique thing about this record is that this is the first time since Joe joined the band that I actually recorded other people. In the sense that these are the guys I tour with and that I hang out with were a band and we recorded as a band. It’s got a much more solid vibe, more intricate and interesting record just due to the fact that there are always four people in the room at all times, contributing and working. For me it’s great, because my solo records have always been a bit disjointed due to the changing roster of musicians. Great things come out of situations where you feel a great vibe, and that is what’s going on here. This is the first full thing with us together…”

There is good news for fans awaiting Denni’s debut film, "AVALANTIS"… it’s finally written, now just to film it!

"AVALANTIS" is written and we are just waiting to film! Finally, we just finished writing last week finally and all that stuff. So no, we are just figuring out when the best time to film it will be. But as far as writing it… it’s done! After three and half years, it’s a nice feeling.”

Unfortunately, Denni is still keeping tight-lipped on his newest project for DragonFilm, entitled "Pandora's Curse".

“I can’t really tell you anything about it. There’s nothing really to talk about yet, because I haven’t really started it yet. The problem is that it was announced way ahead of time, so we talked about it a little bit, but its not even started yet.”

Well you heard it from the man himself. But if the past dictates the future Denni Towle & The Cruciatus Curse have always been full of surprises. Who knows what could happen!

- Dumbledore asked him directly to kill him
- He made the unbreakable promise to Narcissa Malfoy with Bellatrix , so if he didn't pursue with that he would have died himself

Can you do a video on something that has been bothering me for a while? Did snape ever kill anyone other than dumbledore whilst in Voldemorts service? When he was told by Dumbledore that he needed to do the deed, Snape protested "what about my soul?" implying his soul was intact.

That's why the EW killed Voldemort unintentional horcrux, it wasent Harry. The blood he took from Harry is the reason why he didn't die the first time, if he just used someone else's bloody would still kill the horcrux and after that if he used another's wand it still wouldn't work, because of Lilys sacrifice.

But the Crucio cursed worked on Harry in the Graveyard, so the last theory cant be it. I think the Elder Wand just didn't want to harm its master. It's why it backfired when Voldemort used the killing curse

I think not only did it not want to harm its master but also knew that Harry wasn't even trying to defend himself. Wand ownership can pass from a person defeating them without killing them, but as Harry willfully allowed Voldemort to cast the curse on him, Voldemort was displaying no mastery over Harry at all.

I love how Harry resists all of the Unforgivable Curses, and at the hand of Voldemort too. Harry shakes off Imperius in the graveyard, isn’t hurt by Cruciatus in the forest, and doesn’t die to the Killing Curse as a baby and in the forest.

He does shake off Barry Crouch Jr’s Imperius curse, but that was in an educational setting so I feel like it doesn’t count as much.

The books made clear the reason Harry could resist Voldemort's Imperius Curse was because he succeded when Barty Crouch Jr. was teaching. Ironically, because Barty had to impersonate Mad-Eye Moody, an Auror, he actually thought Harry how to deal with two of the Unforgivable Curses at least. He taught that the Killing Curse could be dodged and how to resist the Imperius Curse. But there's not much one can do not to fall victim of the Cruciatus Curse.

It's heavily implied that Narcissa is an occlumens, I always thought that her love for her son Draco and her decision to protect Harry added an extra level of protection. She put her life on the line to lie to Voldemort in return for Harry telling her that Draco was still alive, that's some serious self sacrifice.

When Voldemort used Cruciatus curse on harry, the Voldemort's horcrux inside harry was already dead from the killing curse. So the horcrux couldn't protect harry from the cruciatus curse.
Voldemort didn't expect the curse to work and the harry being true owner of the wand makes more sense than the horcrux protection theory.

This is a question that's bothered me for a long time. Out of the 4 explanations, the third one seems the most likely, since Harry no longer had a piece of Voldemort's soul, the elder wand was willing to curse him with Avada Kedavra in the forest, and because he 'died' to protect everyone else, not himself.

I have an idea kinda like the "Voldemort didnt believe that Harry was alive".
It is stated throughout the books, first with "Moody" Crouch jr. while he was teaching the unforgivable curses, that for curses like Cruciatus (after explaining that the danger of the Imperius Curse lies in that any decent wizard can cast it) you need to feel bad feelings such anger and the desire to cause pain(said by Bellatrix on 5th book)
The reminder of this is also on the 7th book (not the exact quote but something like this)
"Amycus spat on McGonagall face. 'you shouldnt done that...Crucio!' shouted Harry 'This is what Bellatrix meant, you need to really feel it' as his blood burn through his veins"

After killing Harry, Voldemort, as weird as it sounds, was probably in such a state of euphoria that he didnt met the requirements to cast a Cruciatus Curse (plus believing Harry was dead probably faded away any desire of causing him pain, after all Harry was just a dead body).

Correct. For the Unforgivable Curses, at the very least, you have to truly mean to do what the spell is created to do. If you do not truly mean it, the spell will not work. Since Voldemort believed Harry to be dead, and he knew that the Cruciatus curse wouldn't affect a dead body, Crucio had no effect because Voldemort didn't truly intend for it to work.

There's another point to consider. The horcrux that was in Harry. In book 4, when Voldy took Harry's blood, he took his mother's protection into him. But he might have took a portion of the unintended horcrux back. Then, in the Battle for Hogwarts, Voldy killed his own horcrux that was in Harry. Harry was protected by his mother's charm and Voldy's blood, but the horcrux was destroyed and the connection between him and Harry was severed. Now, Lily's charm was protecting Harry from Voldy once more. If Voldy had physically touched Harry after destroying the unintended horcrux then he'd probably burn his hand again.

As explained a few different times in the books, you have to mean for the spell to work for it to work truly. Voldemort thought harry was dead and didn't think it would work, so it didn't. He had no doubts and was simply showing his followers his trophy 🏆

Great video! The main reason in my opinion still is, that the elder wand refused to hurt his rightful owner. Like the killing curse didn't kill him but went against the Horcrux or later deflecting against the man who wielded the wand unlawfully.

I presume the the strongest reason for it is that Voldemort was using Harry’s wand, which would not harm its master as it could. So Voldemort thought he was torturing Harry but instead the wand was deceiving him, as it did again when he tried to kill Harry.

To your point about Voldy not expecting the spell to work, you could be right. In the 5th movie when Harry tries to use the Crucio spell on Bellatrix and it only knocks her down Voldy tells him, "You have to mean it." Even tho Bella killed Sirius Harry was just angry and not truly a killer / torturer so it didn't work. Voldemort didn't expect it to work so it didn't.

I guess it doesn't really matter that Harry was only ever immune to the unforgivable curses by Voldemort at one point or another (in the situation), he will be remembered as the only wizard immune to these spells. Word is out and the people have an image of Harry, stronger than the boy who lived.

Holy Smokes! I feel like there is important info here on how a horcrux works. Voldemort essentially turned himself into a Psuedo-Horcrux for Harry because Harry's blood ran through his veins. That alone seems to have been enough to keep Harry tethered to our mortal world. I think this may be a HUGE hint at how horcruxes themselves work. I've seen on your channel here and on many other channels that theorize that blood is an important part of the ritual. We have always assumed it was the victim's blood that would be used, but what if its not? What if whomever is making the horcrux binds their soul to an object and also must somehow imbue their own blood in the object or creature. Perhaps the soul is important because whatever object is used it must be "living" somehow. Perhaps what is going on here is a transference of the caster's life force into the object itself and not just binding the soul to the object. They are literally animating an object with their own blood and soul. Not to get too graphic here, but what if they have to bleed themselves out for this spell to work. It fits with why JK Rowling wouldn't want to share that info to the general public.

Perhaps others can expand upon this idea. I just hatched this idea when I heard the text that Harry was tethered by Voldemort to the world of the living. That was a nearly identical description of how a Horcrux works. What seems to be important in this case is Voldemort's use of Harry's blood which leads me to believe there is a connection that I have not seen explored. Maybe another video can come of this :)

The love protection sounds like a way better horcrux. It costs the same thing, in lily's case she died, in Harry's he intended to sacrifice himself and while he lived the part of voldemort's soul inside him died which counted for the spell IMO. A horcrux will keep your soul tethered to this world so you can be resurrected somehow while the love horcux protects Harry directly when he faces voldemort

If you would've read the 6th book then you will find out that when Draco body binded Harry in Hogwarts express,he was always muttering counter curse in his mind and even tried to summon wand wandlessly. I love how Voldemort killed Snape to get the elder wand thinking it belonged to Snape because he killed Dumbledore. But Voldemort went to visit Gellert who wasn’t dead but who lost the elder wand to Dumbledore in a dual which didn’t register with him that you don’t need to kill the previous owner to gain the elder wand

Right? i've always thought this. I just think since the final battle happened so quickly, im assuming Voldemort was still pissed from the goblet being stolen from gringots, and his conviction to never trusting anyone. killing one who he still seemed to trust was just an extra precaution.

He still would have had to duel with Snape in order to win the Wand, if Snape was the true master. Killing him just makes it simpler.

The problem with this theory is that we know that the spell will still work, it just won't be as effective. Harry casts crucio on Bellatrix, but it's only mildly painful rather than mindbreakingly painful. She is able to shrug it off but still feels pain. Voldemort's crucio might not have been the most effective, but he is more than a good enough wizard to know that the crucio wouldn't work in this scenario if this theory was true.

I didn't watch it yet, but harry's wand is connected to voldemort and not vise versa. So i'd assume that the effect would fade due to voldemort casting the spell on himself. In the wand's point of view. They both have phoenix core, and even as Voldemort got the elder wand, harry's wand could consider it to be friendly fire.

If Voldemort killed Lily instantly when he entered the room no chance for sacrifice. Harry wouldn't have been protected. He has Snape to thank for giving Lily the opportunity to sacrifice herself for his protection.

I think the reason it didn’t work was as simple as Voldemort was trying to use a painful curse on Harry with a wand that now was now Harry’s. He could’ve said anything and it likely would’ve failed on Harry

Voldemort used a wand that was not his, used a curse he did not believe that will work, on a person who he thought is dead, meanwhile that person had a blood bond with him and therefore an invulnerability, and finally, at that time he was only partially himself, as at the time he had only one of seven created horcruxes and his soul was only 1/128 of the original one. Well done Voldy, you did everything precisely to be unable to harm him.

I read on another video that one thing about the unforgivable spells is that you have to WANT the other person to die, lose their freedom and be in extreme pain(voldemort says "youve got to mean it harry" when he uses crucio on Bellatrix). Because voldemort didnt want to cause harry pain as he thought he couldnt feel pain because he was "dead", nothing happened.

Cruciatus curse or killing curse...it didn’t matter because the elder wand was incapable of doing harm to its true master, which was Harry.. That’s really all there is to that. Also, Harry very much felt the cruciatus curse in the graveyard but at that point Voldemort did not have the elder wand. The twin cores was the reason Harry’s wand beat Voldemort’s in the graveyard and caused Voldemort’s wand to regurgitate his most recent murders.

I would love if you could throw some light on how Harry by disarming Draco from his own wand also wins the allegiance of the elder wand. I think it's because Draco did not use the wand at all, and showed many coward acts that made the wand wish to pass its allegiance to anyone who was stronger in character. And Harry not only is very worthy (a selfless hero and a bastion for most of the world), but also won Draco's wand through superior mental and physical will. At that time, Harry was also the owner of the other 2 deathly hallows (the cloak and the stone inside the snitch). I believe that, if Voldemort had a duel with Draco, the wand would be his.

It's because Draco disarmed Dumbledore in the Astronomy tower in the Half Blood Prince Book. That wasn't part of Dumbledore's plan. He was just too weak at the time and he chose to use the split second he had to immobilize Harry so he wouldn't interfere or be found, rather than blocking Draco's expelliarmus spell.

Here's another theory. The reason the cruciatus curse is so horrible is because it operates on the FEAR of pain, making that fear into reality. The more you fear pain, the more it affects and traumatizes you, and also the more likely one who fears pain will use it as a weapon. The wise learn that pain is an old friend, and when they fear pain no longer, they can endure so much more before they even notice. Harry didn't just face the pain, he chose it. The curse had nothing to react with inside Harry because there was no fear. Perhaps it is because Love overcomes fear that, when those forces met, of course Love's victory is larger than just one battle.

Although the Cruaciatus Curse isn't so effective if the user's doesn't mean to really hurt someone it can still cause some pain and hurt to a certain degree.
Remember that the Elder Wand didn't want to kill Harry so it probably didn't want to hurt him either.

They were not given the choice and Harry and Lily accepted death. their deaths weren't planned, they didn't fight back. Harry truly thought he was gonna die and that is the reason his sacrifice worked. And Lily could have survived but she chose not to

before i watch the video, my guess is that the only reason the crucio curse works is because the user has to truely mean it, and want to endure pain on their victim. however voldemort didn't want harry to feel pain, because if harry felt pain then that would mean that he is alive. Voldemort expected Harry to be dead and wanted him to be dead so he didn't want nor expect harry to feel pain, therefore he didn't really mean it

The problem with Harry's sacrifice theory is that Voldemort has Harry's/Lilly's blood in him which counteracts the protection magic. He already has Harry's blood in him so he should get the protection as well and thus make it moot.

I agree, Voldemort thought Harry was dead that's why the cruciatus curse didn't work on Harry. Remember when Harry performed cruciatus curse on Bellatrix in Order of The Phoenix, it didn't work well. And Voldemort told Harry that he has to mean it in order for it to work. The caster has to have that intention to severely hurt or cause pain to another person in order for the curse to work perfectly. Since Voldemort expected Harry to be dead, it means he also expected Harry to not feel anything from it.

One thing about Dumbledore that would definitely scare a power-hungry character like Voldemort was the fact that Dumbledore was his teacher, the one who introduced him to magic.

Therefore Voldemort realized that no teacher ever parts with ALL that he knows, so after all the amazing things Dumbledore taught him, after all that, there were still vast stores of knowledge and wisdom inside Dumbledore that Voldemort would never know.

Even if Voldemort never admitted as such that would have been a scary thing to think about.

I feel like the true reason could be because Narssisca Malfoy wanted to protect Harry because she knew Draco was still alive. So if it turns out that Harry is still alive when she said he wasn't, she will no doubt be punished

Do think that dubledore was possibly protected by the same charm that Harry’s mother gave to him. But from his younger sister. - was dumbldire possibly a horcrux of Grindlewalds and protected by his sisters blood which ran through his veins - this being the reason he could defeat Grindlewald: because the elderwand had alegence to the soul in both bodies.

That was only the case after Voldemort came back with his body in the Goblet of Fire book. Prior to that Harry could be killed. After that point Dumbledore probably didn't want Voldemort to suspect that this powerful protection existed or he might try to get rid of it somehow.

I have a question that I think is quite interesting and up until now was unable to solve.
In this video they say: "For some charms and spells to work, it is my belief that, in addition to harry's sacrifice, the Cruciatus curse didn't work [be]cause Voldemort didn't expect it to".
Furthermore, in the books Bellatrix Lestrange explains a bit more about how to use an Unforgivable Curse. "You need to mean them, Potter! You need to really want to cause pain — to enjoy it — righteous anger won’t hurt me for long — I’ll show you how it is done, shall I?"
Now is my question why Snape was able to successfully kill Dumbledore. Yes he had his motives, but those motives where not build on anger and hate, he did it to carry on Dumbledore's plan. You could say that him killing Dumbledore was because of his love for Lily and for the protection of the wizarding world. Also did Snape obviously not enjoy killing Dumbledore.
What do you Potterheads here think? Do you think Snape should not have been able to successfully use the killing curse, or maybe rather that he was successful because it came from his hate and anger towards Voldemort?

I think the one and only clear reason for the Crucio being ineffective was Harry being the true master of the Voldemort's Elder Wand. The Elder Wand never harms its true master. That's it.
The other argument which I find interesting is that Voldemort did not intend to cause pain because he thought Harry was dead anyway. However, I'm not sure about that. I think it's well possible that Voldemort actually wanted to test if Harry was really dead because he did not fully trust Narcissa.
The argument that Voldemort had Harry's blood can easily be dismissed imo because Voldemort was also able to hurt Harry with Crucio in the "Goblet of Fire", right after his rebirth.
Harry's sacrifice protected all the other Hogwarts fighters from Voldemort, but not Harry himself, so imo this also cannot be a reason for the Crucio not to work. After all, Harry intended to sacrifice himself for all the others and not for himself!
