Read Full Bio ↴There are (or have been) at least five artists called The Diplomats.
1. The by far most popular group called The Diplomats (also known as Dipset) are a Harlem, New York-based group who previously signed to Roc-A-Fella Records, but now are signed to own label Diplomats Record. Founded by rappers Cam'ron and Jim Jones, the group released their debut album Diplomatic Immunity under their imprint Diplomat Records.
Diplomat Records also distribute artist Cam'ron through Asylum Records. Under Koch Entertainment, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, 40 Cal., Freekey Zekey, J.R. Writer, Hell Rell, Un Kasa and Jha Jha are also signed on as members of The Diplomats record label. London-based duo, S.A.S, are also part of The Diplomats. Another member, Jay Bezel, is signed to Sure Shot Records. The group's sophomore album Diplomatic Immunity 2 was released under Koch Entertainment. Juelz Santana currently is the only member still signed to Diplomat Records and Def Jam Records.
One of the defining elements of the Diplomats' music is the innovative slang they have incorporated into their lyrics. The broader hip-hop community has accepted and utilized many of their terms, including "doggie,", "no homo", "piff," "huff," "u mad?", "move the movement", "off' wit' Ya' Kufi Smacker", "goonies goo goo,", "duck tales", "family matters", and "coochie rap". They also coined the greeting, "What's Really Good?". Many of the rappers were signed, and were premiered in mixtapes, but the Diplomats did not become exclusive until 2003 with their cd Diplomatic Immunity. In previous music videos when Cam'ron was starting his career you could see fellow diplomats like Jim Jones or Freeky Zeeky. The Diplomats have also gained notable street credability through their mixtapes, especially in New York, and have made a small fortune through mixtape sales. They also have their own brand of Liquor, Sizzurp.

The Diplomats were fronted by Andy Welsh, who later joined The Scene.

Crack music
We just tryin' to be more diplomatic in certain situations
But don't ever forget, don't ever think that we slippin' or lackin'
Hrgh, I started with a grand a pack (facts)
Once I finished, then re-up and then I ran it back (whip it up)
Parked in front the buildin', I was watchin' where my grandma at (chill)
Checked the manifest and asked the pilot where we landin' at (where we goin'?)
Jumpin' off the isle while we dockin' where the sand is at (bahamas?)
She love the sauce boss and I be drippin' like candle wax (fleek)
This bentley four-door is like the straw that broke the camel back (fuck)
I was watchin' all these rappers rockin' fanny packs (whoa)
I was askin' myself, "What kind of man is that?" (You know)
And that's a shot, muhfucka, can you handle that?
Make a phone call and have you parkin' where it's handicap (skrrt, skrrt)
And all these questions they be askin', me and cam are back (facts)
It's diplomats for life, muhfucka, and I stand on that (dipset)
Two desert eagles like the eagle in my chain (word)
This game is like a drug, that's like a needle to the vein (hrgh)
Killa been said, there's no needin' to explain
'Cause these selfish muhfuckas don't appreciate the game (not at all)
They don't appreciate this shit
It's like they copped a new car, it just depreciates and shit
Yeah, how we walk, how we talk, how we talk
You could see it drippin', spillin' off, spillin' off
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce, got the sauce
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce
Yeah, how we walk, how we talk, how we talk
See it drippin', spillin' off, spillin' off
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce, got the sauce
Them boys got the sauce, dipset bitch
Whoa
Slurp it up like spaghetti, ho
Got that sauce, got that flavor, that oregano
Kept it on me but I kept it low
Only time I let it show is when I let it go
Santana, ho, you already know
Yeah, neck lookin' like the levees broke
Still got that perico straight from Mexico
'Bout my paper, every decimal
I ain't french but all my bitches c'est si bon
No time to love 'em, I just fuck 'em and I let 'em go
Uh, gigalo, Deuce Bigalow
Gotta hit her with the give-and-go
They all birds, gotta let 'em roam
When you see me, boy salute me, I'm a general
Or end up on my plate gettin' ate like a dinner roll
Still ridin' high, leanin' low
Yeah, how we walk, how we talk, how we talk
You could see it drippin', spillin' off, spillin' off
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce, got the sauce
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce
Yeah, how we walk, how we talk, how we talk
See it drippin', spillin' off, spillin' off
Them boys got the sauce, got the sauce, got the sauce
Them boys got the sauce, dipset bitch
Santa, yeah I'ma hit the bank, then to my crib with the lake
Inside a catfish, I don't mean no picture prank
I'm talkin' 'bout my dinner plate, mac and finished steak
What about my vegetables? Watch carats in the face
Did I indicate? Baby you lookin' in the face
Of a man that every other month go out some different place
So fix your face, we flyin', fuck the interstate
You could bring a couple friends, the others I'll eliminate
She said, "Why?"
'Cause it's like the playoffs (like the playoffs)
Takin' some days off, you comin' or not girl?
This is the addy, be there or be square, 10 A.M. is the takeoff
No time to tongue wrestle (nah)
200k here on this young bezel
She left in a Camry, Plan B (Plan B)
It ain't my fault that she can't see (what she can't see?)
In the song "Sauce Boyz" by The Diplomats, the group aims to convey a sense of confidence and swagger. The lyrics, filled with vibrant imagery and braggadocious statements, emphasize their status and success in the music industry. They assert that they are diplomatic in handling certain situations, but they also make it clear that they should never be underestimated or seen as lacking. The chorus repeats the idea that they possess the "sauce," a metaphorical term for their unique style and charm.
The first verse describes their rise from selling drugs, referencing making money from selling a "grand a pack" and continually reinvesting in their operation. They also mention being cautious and aware of their surroundings, pointing out that everyone is watching them through a "camera snap." As they travel to different locations, they highlight their extravagant lifestyle and their ability to attract women with their "sauce." Furthermore, they express their disdain for rappers who wear fanny packs, suggesting that it reflects a lack of masculinity. These lines add a confrontational tone to the song, implying that they are superior to other artists in the industry. They conclude the verse by reiterating their loyalty to the Diplomats and proclaiming their stance in the music world.
The second verse continues with their signature confident and unapologetic style. They use vivid language and wordplay to express their dominance and sexual prowess, describing drinking up women like spaghetti and asserting their ability to attract multiple partners. They boast about their expensive jewelry and their connections to drug suppliers in Mexico. The lyrics also reference their preference for casual relationships rather than emotional commitments. They end the verse by emphasizing their position as generals and warning others that they will be consumed like a dinner roll if they cross them.
Overall, "Sauce Boyz" is a track that showcases The Diplomats' swagger, success, and unyielding self-belief. The lyrics emphasize their unique style, confidence, and ability to navigate the music industry while simultaneously challenging and dismissing their competitors.
