1) The Dogs formed around 1969 in Lansing, Michigan, influenced by the MC5 and the Stooges, Amboy Dukes, Alice Cooper, they were all about playing with Marshall stacks real real loud. They moved to Los Angeles in '76 and became a fixture on the early LA punk scene.
2) The Dogs, garage rock from Oslo, Norway. They have recorded four albums; "Set Yourself On Fire And Follow The Smoke", "The Tears Are Voodoo", "Black Chameleon Prayer" and "Swamp Gospel Promises". Fronted by Kristopher Schau (Mongo Ninja, The Cumshots, Gartnerlosjen and Hurra Torpedo).
3) The Dogs were an underground phenomenon in Iowa during the 70s, they were a 3 piece band who played loud, raw, pre-punk similar to The Stooges and U.K. bands like Third World War, Hammersmith Gorillas and Crushed Butler. They released one single (Rot 'n' Roll b/w Teen Slime) and recorded a few other studio tracks later released by Rave Up records (Italy) in the late 90s. The band consisted of:
Jody Koenig- Guitar/Vocals
Ole Torvik- Bass/Vocals
and Erik Berg - Drums/Vocals
Greg Knipe was the original drummer, but he left early on to drum for Conway Twitty.
4) The Dogs are a rock band from Chicago, IL. The Dogs are family. Not literally, but close enough. The group has been inseparable since middle school, sharing a deep passion for cooking, Neil Young and making music. The Dogs are spread across the land: vocalist/guitarist Peter Walters in Minneapolis; bassist Matt Bachmann in Washington; vocalist Rivkah Gevinson in Norway; and multi-instrumentalist/producer James Krivchenia in Boston. Despite being separated, the Dogs remained close by exchanging demos. By the time they had reunited for a summer in Chicago, they had accumulated roughly 50 demos and settled on 15 songs to record.
Camping was recorded with a few microphones and a laptop -- with a beer budget that may have been more than a studio budget. Outside of four hours of studio time that the band won from the Chicago Deli's Artist of the Month poll, Camping was recorded completely independently. The final weeks of summer found the Dogs in La Farge, WI, where they holed up in a cavernous garage attic for a last recording stand. After a few bonfires, some fresh veggies from their Amish neighbors, The Dogs finished recording Camping.

Ocean
The Dogs Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Choked ocean blue?
It is said that you, you are not
Cannot go
Be what there is a lack of
Of me i think
No, not yet
You're best when awkward
Fall, tip-toe
Fasle tripped hoe
This here spills out
We will all die and I love you
This here spills out
Remember that car
Big white steering wheel
Fish tail
Choked ocean blue
Mothers eyes
This here spills out
We will all die and i love you
Remember that something?
Freshly fried?
Don't touch sugar now
Too much private education
The lyrics to The Dogs' song "Ocean" are shrouded in mystery and can be interpreted in a number of different ways. One possible interpretation is that the song is about the passage of time and the inevitability of death. The lines "We will all die and I love you" suggest a sense of urgency and a desire to connect with others before it's too late. The reference to a "choked ocean blue" could be a metaphor for the futility of trying to control or change the course of our lives. The repetition of the phrase "this here spills out" adds to the sense of chaos and unpredictability that is central to the song's message.
Another possible interpretation of the lyrics is that they are about love and relationships. The lines "Be what there is a lack of / Of me i think" suggest a longing for connection and an acknowledgement of one's own shortcomings. The reference to a "false tripped hoe" and a "big white steering wheel" could be images of failed relationships and missed opportunities. The line "Too much private education" could be a commentary on the way that societal expectations and status symbols can get in the way of authentic connection.
