There Will Be Blood
The Dreaming Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
A death much worse than violence
And I can feel you slowly drift apart
So these are left behind us
With only ghost to remind us
Of a time when our love was still alive
There will be blood
There will be blood
Flooding from my broken heart
There will be blood
I'm dying on the inside
But hide it on the outside
You'll never know how much it's killing me
They tell me I'll survive this
In time I will get through this
But you can never see what's inside me
There will be blood
Flooding from my broken heart
There will be blood
Flooding from my broken heart
There will be blood
(There will be blood)
There will be blood
(There will be blood)
There will be blood
I'm dying on the inside
But hide it on the outside
You'll never know how much it's killing me
There will be blood
Flooding from my broken heart
There will be blood
Flooding from my broken heart
There will be blood
Like a river from my broken heart
There will be blood
(There will be blood)
There will be blood
(There will be blood)
There will blood
There will be blood
There will be blood
The Dreaming's song "There Will Be Blood" explores the intense pain and heartbreak of a failing relationship. The lyrics describe the experience of feeling ignored and isolated by someone who was once deeply loved. The singer feels alone and unsupported, drowning in the silence of their partner's emotional distance. The pain of being ignored and rejected is portrayed as a slow and agonizing death, worse than any violence. The ghostly memories of a once vibrant love haunt the singer, creating a stark contrast to their current reality.
As the song progresses, the singer admits to hiding their pain on the outside, even though they are dying inside. The pressure to appear strong and capable is overwhelming, and the hurt is consuming them from within. The chorus "There will be blood, flooding from my broken heart" emphasizes the deep and visceral nature of the hurt. The imagery of blood pouring out of a broken heart reflects the intense emotion and pain of a shattered relationship. The singer knows they will never truly heal from this trauma, and the final lines of the song repeat the mantra "There will be blood" as a stark reminder of the depths of their suffering.
