Cursed
The Drive Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
All left behind,
A turn in kind,
A twist to wind
Wanted myself,
Wanted please help,
Wanted and fallen,
Repeated words
Revel Absurds
A telling lie
They called it
Wanted myself,
Wanted please help
Wanted and fallen,
Left out, crawling
Wanted myself,
Wanted, please help
Wanted and fallen,
Left out, crawling
Cursed a common girl
Cold and lonely world
Has she gone insane
Screaming, screaming out her name
Wanted, myself,
Wanted please help
The Drive's song "Cursed" is a poignant portrayal of a struggling individual's broken mind, the pain and suffering that follows, and their desperate plea for help. The opening lines describe the myriad of shattered thoughts and emotions that have been left behind in the aftermath of a traumatic experience. The line "A twist to wind" suggests that the person's mind has taken a dark and twisted turn, making it difficult for them to see a way out of their pain.
The repetition of the phrase "Wanted myself, Wanted please help, Wanted and fallen, Left out, crawling" is an indication of the person's desperation and need for assistance. They are crying out for help, but they feel lost and alone as they crawl through their agony.
The chorus section of the song is a chilling commentary on society's tendency to stigmatize and ostracize those who are struggling to cope. The lines "Cursed a common girl, Cold and lonely world, Has she gone insane, Screaming, screaming out her name" present a cautionary tale about how quickly we can push people over the edge through our inhumanity and indifference.
Overall, "Cursed" is a haunting and emotional song that delves into the darker aspects of the human mind and the need for greater empathy and compassion in our interactions with others.

@Big Joe I imagine this monster would have likely been deployed during counter-action manoeuvres and at most for punching through trenches at 'vulnerable locations'.
In most foreseeable scenarios, the lumbering tank would have been far too rare and valuable to be deployed in any sort of offensive against enemy lines except perhaps, in major ones similar to the Battle of Amiens.
It could have been used to help reclaim towns and trenches lost to break through action by the allies, especially in containing break throughs beyond the cover range of allied artillery.
It's worth noting that all of this use would likely have been in areas that had seen comparatively little action (until the introduction of tanks) where there was still unbroken, unpulverised ground and with weather permitting.
I say this because other tanks of the time were successfully deployed with good effect under these circumstances.
Afterall, we all know what happened when tanks tried to launch an offensive over broken, muddy ground and the commanders / soldiers of the day knew it too.
