I've been a musician and Beatles fan since the '60's and love this version of "Sgt. Pepper's". A lot of time has to go into new arrangements, and to pick a classic album that many of us know note for note, by the all time greatest rock group, is no simple task. I like the way the band kept the original melodies of the songs and yet transcend the arrangement into something original. Thank you jerraras for posting.

If you all dig this the "Easy Star All-Stars" do the same Reggae flavoring to Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and Radiohead's "OK Computer" start to finish. Both are amazing listens as is this. I'm also normally not a fan of covering such legendary bands, but any time this band does it, I listen :)

First thoughts in 4 words?? Impressive, delightful, honest. WOW! I'm no musician like these guys obviously are but I know what I like. And I REALLY liked this one though the opening tune Sgt Pepper, Lovely Rita and a Day In The Life are high points!!! I can hardly wait to hear what else they do. THANKS for posting this!!

Good God Within You Without You is incredible. I honestly might like it better than the original. Which is saying a lot. Huge Beatles fan and these guys nailed it. Sgt. Peppers is one of my favorite albums and these guys captured the essence of that album so perfectly. And they did it while nodding to all the little things that made the original such a breakthrough album. So glad I was fortunate enough to find this.

Right! I mean alot of people are acting like they are trying to improve something but thats not it at all. I mean but some of the songs just fall in there perfect.

+Mike Bowman I agree. I feel like , as a musician myself, there are two ways to cover something. One is akin to basically intellectual theft and basically trying to take and improve someone else's work and call it your own. And two being a cover that someone has made that honors its original. A cover that is its own but also knows where it came from ya know? Something that is almost original in its own way without tarnishing its roots or creators. And these guys nailed it. And it's the Beatles of all bands! Probably their most groundbreaking album aside from rubber soul to boot.

This is February 2013. If you are in your early 20's and reading this, your parents were about the same age, maybe a few years older when they heard the Beatles belt this out! :) Whatever the age, WE saw the Beatles and experienced them. This Reggae Style cover is but one magnificent musical tribute to their legacy. There will be many more, but for now, this version is outstanding.

This is an amazing upbeat, well done body of music. I rarely hear covers of Beatle songs that I like, This is truly an exception.
I just love this interpretation of Sargent Pepper's LHCB. She's leaving home is a good listen. I noticed they changed the line in Lucy in the sky, from cellophane flowers of "yellow and green" to "red gold and green'. a slight twist. I feel like I'm at the beach! where's my margarita?

I'm a musician and a real Beatles fan and I have to say this recording blew me away. It compliments the Beatles and takes the music in a whole new direction. And yes, the Beatles version was drug influenced in case not everyone was aware of that.

i was lucky enough to see them tour this album, and its one of the best things i have ever experienced. when im 64 and being the benifit of mr kte were definatly the high points. re-living the moment right now!! thanks for posting!

Excellent album, great translation in genre and these guys seem to have been fans to begin with as they catch the nuances the made the SPLHCB such a novel album, now it's a one of a kind reggae album.

Very Nice, Excellent Job & Worthy of Respect...
These guys DO try, and stay true to the work they are emulating. Bringing some classic rock into a contemporary format, with the up - to date [At the time of recording] technology and techniques and 'Shifting" Genres into a Reggae Format... Not just Reggae, but a spectrum of various Reggae styles. From Roots Rockers, to Ska & Rock Steady, to "Socalyptic dancehall" to Dubplate, DJ, and Ragga. Yet still Very Beatles British Rock & Roll Flavoured. This is done with such care and precision, that even a person who does NOT like ONE of the genres, or other & even either, can enjoy this work.
To do this, as well as Easy Stars do it, with TOP notch Musicians, Singers, and Players, is not SO "Easy". As much a Labour of Love as anything else.
This, and other projects tackled by the E. Stars, should NOT be Underestimated, nor Underrated.

Excellent album all the way. Fixin' a Hole takes a cool turn into Tripsville. She is Leaving Home is so beautifully sung. A Day In the Life, "Woke up, fell out of bed, dragged my fingers through my dreads." Of course.

I was at an Antibalas show and I met one of the producers/ artist/ keyboard players for Easy All Stars from Dub Side of The Moon because the band I played in at the time played the same venue and I'm a Fela Kuti fan. When I asked him about the Dub Side album, (the first one they made) he said he was just walking around NYC very high with his headphones blasting Dark Side of the Moon , and he just kept hearing Roger Waters baselines dance around like reggae and when you really listen it is true, it could have been a reggae album if you strip it down to just bass and surround it with Reggae -ish guitar clanks, keys, drums , horns and they just fuckin nail all that shit because they are pros! If you like it, give Radiodread, Dub Side of the Moon and Dubber side of the Moon......Antibalas is pretty dope too! RIP Fela Kuti.. This Sargent Pepper is Dope Too!!....."tell me when re you free to smoke some tea with me"...Get off
