The Eternals Lyrics

But I don't say your name
I met you in the summer near the cliffs
I was the young, I saw an angel
I still feel like it's that summer but it's not baby
I thought tempting fate would be the way into your heart
I was mistaken
Baby I've been thinking about you nonstop
I'm on the edge at the ocean and I'm thinking about you
And when the sun goes down I think about you
One silhouette
A solo drive
I'm riding fast so I could find you
And I've found myself inside the past tonight
Tonight we ride
Maybe there's a dark in path in every road that's chosen
Maybe it's my own self that's leading me the wrong way
I see the present lay its hands upon the past, shadow movement
I feel the echo of the tide's change in ways I can't explain
Baby I've been thinking about you nonstop at night
Every stoplight, I let it remind me of home
I see the moon
I'm on the shore
I'm only yours
One silhouette
A solo drive
I'm riding fast so I could find you
And I've found myself inside the past tonight
A crystal lake
A diamond eye
I'm on the edge at the ocean and I'm thinking about you
When the sun goes down I think about you
The lyrics of "Silhouette" by The Eternals convey a deep longing and persistent thoughts about someone. The singer admits to constantly thinking about this person, even though they never mention their name. The song transports us back to a summer moment near the cliffs where the singer felt an intense connection, describing the person they met as an angel. However, despite their continuous thoughts about this individual, they realize that time has moved on and it is no longer that summer. The singer believed that taking risks and tempting fate would lead them into this person's heart, but they discover that they were mistaken.
The song captures a sense of longing and yearning, with the singer finding themselves on the edge of the ocean, consumed by thoughts of this person. The lyrics highlight how the image of this individual constantly consumes their mind, especially at night and during moments of solitude. They vividly recall moments spent together, with one silhouette representing their presence in the singer's life. The song alludes to the idea that perhaps there are dark paths in life that lead us astray and that their own choices have led them down the wrong path. They describe feeling the impact of the present on the past, a sense of haunting and unsettled movement like the changing tides.
Overall, "Silhouette" speaks to the overwhelming power of memories, the ache of longing, and the realization that the past is not something that can be easily recaptured.
