Thus, by a twist of fate and an act of God (i.e., a snow storm), the Fa-la-lattes were born. They produced their first album (“Welcome to Christmas”) in less than a week. And, in one more week, all the copies were sold.
The Fa-la-lattes have been prolific. Producing a Christmas album annually since 2004, when they were formed.
Their latest efforts have been made available for free download on their web-site (falalattes.com).

Daniel Michael: Daniel has trained in the art of Christmas music his whole life. He has been jingling bells since he was in the crib. Daniel is the both the back-bone and the spleen of the Fa-la-lattes. He supplies the Fa-la-lattes with subtle guitar, haunting bass, trickling mandolin, laughing ukulele, bouncing accordion, sliding dobro, picnicking banjo, enigmatic harmonica, ghastly drums, blistering trombone, and vocals. In that order.
Marcus R: Winston Churchill once said of Marcus, “Never hold discussions with the monkey when the organ grinder is in the room.” He was right. Marcus is the spirit of Christmas past, Christmas present, Christmas future, and Christmas hypothetical time. Marcus is a delight. He is the shins and shoulders of the group. Marcus supplies the Fa-la-lattes with heat-seeking vocals, candid verbalization, inspired utterance, orange articulations, juicy harmonies, and Christmas choruses.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot And the days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne And surely you will buy your cup And surely I'll buy mine!
We'll take a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne
We two have paddled in the stream From morning sun till night
The seas between us Lord and swell Since the days of auld lang syne
And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot For the sake of auld lang syne? For old acquaintance be forgot And never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot In the days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet For the sake of auld lang syne
The lyrics to The Fa-la-lattes' song "Auld Lang Syne" explore the significance of old acquaintances and the passage of time. The phrase "auld lang syne" in Scottish dialect translates to "old long since" or "days gone by." The song begins by posing a question: should we forget about old acquaintances and never think of them again? The repetition of this question emphasizes the importance of remembering and cherishing past friendships.
The chorus expresses a sentiment of holding onto these old acquaintances and continuing to celebrate their memories. The singer speaks directly to their loved one, reminiscing about their shared experiences and expressing a desire to toast to those memories. The line "We'll drink a cup of kindness yet" suggests that despite the passage of time, there is still goodness and warmth to be shared in the name of old friendships.
The verse that follows describes a journey spent together, symbolized by paddling in a stream from morning until night. The imagery of the seas between them swelling signifies the physical distance separating them, yet despite this, their connection remains strong. It reminds the listener that even when friends are separated by time and distance, the memories and bond forged in the past remain everlasting.
Overall, the lyrics of "Auld Lang Syne" evoke a sense of nostalgia and the importance of cherishing old friendships, creating a sense of unity and sentimental reflection on the past.
