Their style has mixed Texas blues with the harmonica-laced swamp blues sounds of the likes of Slim Harpo and Lazy Lester, both of whom the T-Birds have covered. Their third album, 1981's 'Butt Rockin'', took the band closer to classic rhythm and blues while featuring added piano and brass section sounds played by additional musicians. The band broke into the mainstream in 1986 with their album 'Tuff Enuff'. The single of the same name was featured in the Kirk Douglas and Burt Lancaster film 'Tough Guys' alongside their follow-up single, which they titled "Wrap It Up". A lively, powerful tune, "Tuff Enuff" has been played frequently over the years on many rock n roll stations. The band's music was also played in John Cusack's 1987 movie 'Hot Pursuit'.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds' next album, titled 'Hot Number', fell off the charts quickly and alienated many of the bands' long-time fans due to its slick, pop-oriented sound. The band then began a long series of line-up changes and obscure, yet somewhat improved, albums throughout the 90s. Drummer Mike Buck left the band in 1980, and guitarist Jimmie Vaughan left in 1990. More recently, the group has had line-up made up of original member Kim Wilson alongside guitarist/vocals Nick Curran, guitarist Kirk Flecther, Jimi Bott on drums, Ronnie James Weber on bass, and former Canned Heat member Gene Taylor on keyboards.

Feelin Good
The Fabulous Thunderbirds Lyrics

I'm gonna boogie, I'm gonna boogie, till the break of day
You know momma told poppa
About something she heard
Now looka here momma
Don't you believe a word
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie, till the break of day
You know, the old folks boogie
Young folks too
There can't nobody boogie
Like me and you
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie, till the break of day
Well, I feel so good
I'm gonna boogie, I'm gonna boogie, till the break of day
Gonna boogie
Well I told my baby
We're gonna try again
Rock and Boogie
Until you
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie, till the break of day
Well, I feel so good
We're gonna boogie
We're gonna boogie, till the break of day
The lyrics to The Fabulous Thunderbirds’ song “Feelin Good” express a sense of happiness and excitement that the singer feels. The song is a celebration of good times and dancing, as evidenced by the repeated refrain “We’re gonna boogie, we’re gonna boogie, till the break of day.” The lyrics also speak about the power of music to bring people together, as both old and young folks are mentioned as boogieing. The singer even expresses confidence that nobody can boogie like him and his companion.
The verses of the song are more playful, featuring a back-and-forth between the singer and a maternal figure (referred to as “momma” and “poppa”). Momma warns poppa about something she heard, but the singer jumps in to tell her not to believe it. The significance of this exchange is unclear, but it could be interpreted as a comment on the power of rumors and gossip to disrupt good vibes.
Overall, the lyrics to “Feelin Good” encourage listeners to let go of their worries and dance, whether that means “rockin and boogieing” or simply “shaking a leg” at a party.
