The band consists of Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly known as Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They signed to Saddle Creek Records and released a few singles, but were unable to establish widespread sales, though they were extremely popular in the Omaha-area. After adding Matt Bowen, The Faint released Media, which established them within a small, national community of fans. While touring, Bowen left and was replaced by Jacob Thiele who helped move the next album, Blank-Wave Arcade, towards a more dance and electronica influenced sound. The album was an underground hit. Partway through the creation of the morose Danse Macabre, The Faint added Dapose, a death metal guitarist formerly of LEAD. Danse Macabre was also a critical and commercial success and has helped to establish a wider fanbase for the band. Their 4th album, released in 2004, is called Wet from Birth.
In 2002 bassist Joel Petersen released the first album from his solo project, Broken Spindles, and he has since released two subsequent albums and had a U.S. tour. Guitarist Dapose also has a side-project, Vverevvolf Grehv, releasing his first album in 2008.
On December 12th, 2005, The Faint announced that they have moved out of The Orifice (a rented out warehouse they used to record Wet from Birth) and into ENAMEL, a 100-year-old building where they recorded the tracks for their next album, Fasciinatiion.

Get Seduced
The Faint Lyrics

The falling stars are getting sucked down
We get seduced easy
We get
We get seduced!
Sell us magazines about the stars
And watch us stare into the void
Who's cant escaped on camera
Now these creeps are climbing up the trees
The neighbors calling the police
And snapping pictures by the pool
We seduced so easy
Check out clerks all funny towards
The page "an a-list star shaves her brains"
While starving millionaires complain
TV makes your ass fat
Tell us!
How rad is it living in a microscope?
Broadcast into every single living room
Hot lights on your love life
Let me buy
Close up tabloid shots of your cellulite
Hypnotizing pages of advice
From their demented fashion do's or dies
Who put this hook inside my mouth, you
Your getting so obsessed its all we talk about
Were passive hounds on the couch
How rad is it living in a microscope?
Broadcast into every single living room
Hot lights on your love life
Its not love thats sex on the first night
How rad is it living in a microscope?
Broadcast into every single living room
Hot lights on your love life

In The Faint's song "Get Seduced," the band discusses the negative influence of tabloid magazines and the media on society. The opening lines of the song, "Tabloid magazines are made in hell, the falling stars are getting sucked down," suggest that the obsession with celebrity culture and the constant scrutiny of famous people is a toxic and dangerous issue. The song then goes on to describe how easily people can be seduced by the images and stories in these magazines, as we are drawn in by the pictures of celebrities and their lavish lifestyles.
The lyrics also touch on how the media creates an unrealistic standard of beauty, as tabloid magazines are selling us images of "what not to wear to be a wart" and close-up shots of "cellulite." The line "TV makes your ass fat" suggests that people become stagnant and passive while consuming endless hours of TV, and society is so obsessed with celebrity culture that it is all anyone talks about.
Overall, "Get Seduced" is a commentary on the negative impact that the media and celebrity culture can have on society, and how easily people can be manipulated and seduced by it.
