Live they are something else – a three pronged attack of ferocious sound blended with insidious melodies. They exhude a noise and intensity that could only be produced by three brothers who know each other inside out.
The band is raring to go with their as-yet-untitled new album, recorded at Rockfield Studios with producer and close friend Tom Dalgety (Royal Blood, Turbowolf). Once more, The Family Rain’s nagging melodies combine with heavy, metallic riffs to produce searing rock music of intelligence and wit.

When things didn't come through you felt just like I do.
Now things have changed and you're just to blame.
As future unfolds you forget what you're told now.
But he alright (alright)
and me I'm fine (I'm fine)
and she, she tight, but you just can't be seen any other way.
Working it out and trying somehow
I cannot from free from you
you can't feel like I do.
Looking the part but losing your heart
I know where I stand and it's not in your hand now.
But he ok (ok)
and we,
we play (we play)
and she,
she stay (she stay),
but you just can't be seen any other way.
Ooh.
We all came out to see you but you just couldn't find the time.
Remember the place,
the house and the face,
we still let you in in the state you had been in.
People who cared,
despite what you said,
said lessons were learned and the fires were burned.
But he ok (ok)
and we,
we play (we play)
and she,
she stay (she stay),
but you just can't be seen any other way.
Ooh.
We all came out to see you but you just couldn't find the time.
The lyrics to The Family Rain's "Carnival" convey a message of disappointment and betrayal in a relationship. The first verse speaks to the singer's initial feelings of hopefulness before being let down by their partner who is now being blamed for the problems in the relationship. The chorus suggests that despite the disappointment, the singer and others are doing fine without the partner who cannot be seen in any other way than negatively. The second verse implies that the singer is making an effort to move on and work through their emotions, but still cannot fully detach themselves from the partner who does not understand their perspective. The final repetition of the chorus emphasizes the disconnect between the partner and the rest of the group, despite their initial attempts to include them.
