Archie Fisher (born 1939) sang traditional songs, as well as writing his own; his younger sister Ray Fisher (born 26 November 1940; died 31 August 2011) sang old ballads in a magnificent voice; Cilla Fisher, with her husband Artie Tresize, performed both traditional and contemporary music as well as a large repertoire of children's music. After recording an album together in 1965, the Fisher siblings only occasionally re-united for tours or special appearances; mostly they recorded material separately.

Ray Fisher was my nana, she passed away when I was 10. Now that I'm older and I look back I have a great great appreciation for her influence in folk music. I just wish I could talk to her one more time.
@sophieclark3084
really? because Ray Fisher was my great aunt, (Joyce Fisher is my grannie) I love listening to Ray's music, she really was special.

She was brilliant. I've been looking for ages to find again her music
@sunbearwizard
@@sophieclark3084 it's wonderful to hear from you! I recently received a whole lot of Ray's records and I wish I had the means to publish them on here, truly timeless wonderful music.

Hi - Could you possibly find 'Silkie of Sul Skerry'? I used to have it on a record, then on a cassette, but now I don't have a player that can play those any more. Ray Fisher's version was the best, and I would love to hear it again. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt a family chat, but you are right about how important and influential she remains, and I'd love to hear more of her music again. Thanks and best wishes, L

I will never get fed up with hearing that song. Beautiful.

This is so good listening to it could almost get me to vote for Independence. [Don't worry - I'm not allowed to vote]
