Orlando conceived the idea for The Flirts, wrote the songs, played the instruments, and produced the tracks. He then auditioned girls to be the face of the group. Orlando often called in the services of professional session singers to sing the vocals for the tracks because most of the performers were trained as dancers, models, or actresses. The Flirts went through numerous lineup changes and with every album release and tour, some girls left the group while others stayed. The Flirts released six studio albums from 1982–1992 and assorted singles. They made several international tours in the 1980s, often in the club circuit, and would usually lip-synch or sing alongside the recordings.
Bobby discovered and produced the Pet Shop Boys. The Flirts' 1982 song Passion was cited by Pet Shop Boys' Chris Lowe as a primary reason for the band's formation.

Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, oh, would you?
Walk into an empty room, nobody's there
Walk into a lonely home, nobody cares
Would you like to try and work it out?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, oh, would you?
Just another lonely heart startin' to cry
Another broken love affair saying goodbye
Would you like to come on tonight?
Would you like to try and make it right?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, oh, would you?
Voulez vous?
Tell me voulez vous?
Voulez vous?
Tell me voulez vous?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, oh, would you?
Sleeping single in a double bed
Voulez vous?
Voulez vous?
Voulez vous?
Voulez vous, oh, would you?
Sleeping single in a double bed, can't sleep at all
Nightmare coming over me, I'm praying you call
Would you like to try and work it out?
Or would you like to say it's done and through?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous, tell me if it's true
Voulez vous, would you?
Voulez vous
The Flirts released "Voulez Vous" in 1982 as part of their debut album "10¢ a Dance". The song explores the theme of unrequited love and the desperation it can generate. The lyrics are direct and simple but effective in conveying the feelings of someone who is yearning for love and affection.
The first verse sets the tone for the rest of the song, as the lyrics describe a situation where the singer finds themselves alone in an empty room or lonely home. The chorus is a plea to the person they desire, asking if they feel the same way or are willing to try to make it work. The second verse is more explicit in describing the pain of a broken heart, and the desperation of wanting to make it right.
The song culminates in the repetition of the chorus over a driving synth beat, as if the singer is willing to ask the question over and over again until they get an answer. The final lyrics, "Sleeping single in a double bed, can't sleep at all/ Nightmare coming over me, I'm praying you call" capture the loneliness and insecurity that can result from unrequited love.
