Their sophomore album, Leave It All Behind (2008) found The Foreign Exchange much closer in geography (Nicolay becoming a resident of Wilmington, NC), but located much further from their hip-hop origins. On the strength of their exhilarating live show and several nationally programmed music videos, Leave It All Behind became the group's most successful album to date, culminating in a Grammy-nomination for the album's first single, Daykeeper.
Authenticity, released on October 12, 2010 on +FE Music, is The Foreign Exchange’s third album.

You might, you might, you might, you might as well
(Mmm, hah, hah, hah, hah, hah)
After all is said and done you're next to me
And when the sun goes down
You're feeling things you've never felt before
Nothing left to say to ease your fears
Let me take good care of you
Kick off your shoes
Take off the blues and come to me
So much to do, so much is new for you to see
You might as well come a little closer
Girl, don't make me wait too long for you
After all is said and done
(Said and done)
And there's nothing left to share
(Left to share)
It's the morning after, I watch you laying there
(Just wanna watch you lying there)
Always told that you should not give in to love
(L O V E)
But saying no is so hard to do
(So hard)
'Cause when the feeling's right
You might as well, yeah
Kick off your shoes
Take off the blues and come to me
So much to do, so much is new for you to see
You might as well come a little closer
Girl, don't make me wait too long for you
Just want your attention
Excuse my intentions
Keep your feelings intact
Don't wanna hurt nobody, let me say it again
There's no need to mention
For this I've been wishing
There's no turning back, lady
Please take my hand
Let's dance
Kick off your shoes
Take off the blues and come to me
So much to do, so much is new for you to see
You might as well come a little closer
Girl, don't make me wait too long for you
Kick off your shoes
Take off the blues and come to me
So much to do, so much is new for you to see
You might as well come a little closer
Girl, don't make me wait too long for you
The song "Take Off The Blues" by The Foreign Exchange featuring Darien Brockington is a romantic song about a man trying to comfort and show affection to his lover. The first verse describes the woman feeling a range of emotions as the day comes to an end. The man assures her that she has nothing to fear and he will take good care of her. The chorus encourages her to "kick off [her] shoes" and come to him, to let him ease her worries and show her new experiences. The second verse is about giving into love and admitting that it's hard to say no when the feeling is right. The man expresses his desire for the woman's attention and promises not to hurt her.
The lyrics are packed with metaphors and imagery. "Take Off The Blues" is a clever play on words, suggesting both the removal of one's shoes and the removal of one's sadness. The man wants the woman to experience new things and see the world, suggesting her life has been gloomy and uneventful. The line "you might as well come a little closer" is both a nod to her hesitance and his own impatience. He wants her to enjoy the moment and not waste any more time. The bridge of the song is a plea for the woman to take his hand and dance, suggesting that their love is playful and there's no need to be afraid.
Overall, "Take Off The Blues" is a love song that encourages vulnerability, comfort, and new experiences. It recognizes the challenges that come with giving into love but ultimately argues that it's worth it.

Facts Apple Music played this for me cause I’m always listening to Little Brother. I never checked out Phonte or Big Pooh’s side projects. I have with 9th Wonder. This is in the same vein as the groove they had when Little Brother started. New music can’t touch this.
