Double Vision
The Foreigner Lyrics

I've been from one to another extreme
This time I had a good time, ain't got time to wait
I want to stick around till I can't see straight
Fill my eyes with that double vision, no disguise for that double vision
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me
My double vision gets the best of me
Never do more than I really need
My mind is racing, but my body's in the lead
Tonight's the night, I'm gonna push it to the limit
I live all of my years in a single minute
Fill my eyes with that double vision, no disguise for that double vision
Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me
My double vision always seems to get the best of me, the best of me, yeah
Ooh, double vision, I need my double vision
It takes me out of my head, takin' me out of my head
I get my double vision, oh, seeing double double
Oh, I have double vision, (oh double vision) yeah
Oh I'm getting double vision
The lyrics of "Double Vision" by The Foreigner describe the feeling of being intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. The lyrics suggest that the singer is feeling down and dirty, and from one extreme to another, but this time has had a good time and wants to stick around until they can't see straight. The use of the term 'double vision' is a metaphor for the distorted perception of reality that comes along with being intoxicated. The singer's mind is racing, but their body is in the lead, suggesting their actions are driven by their intoxicated state.
The chorus reinforces this idea of altered perception ("Fill my eyes with that double vision, no disguise for that double vision"). The singer is aware of their state of mind ("Ooh, when it gets through to me, it's always new to me"), but is powerless to control it ("My double vision gets the best of me"). The final lines of the song ("Oh I'm getting double vision") suggest that the singer is becoming more and more intoxicated, and that their double vision is becoming more pronounced and overwhelming.
Overall, the lyrics describe the feeling of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and the loss of control and distorted perception that comes along with it.

We had so many great bands in the 80s. Sad to see what has happened to Rock and Roll.

Foreigner is underrated even by classic rock stans. One of my favorite 80s songs, it was still playing on radio a lot when I was a kid (circa 1992-94).

I remember this song got a lot of buzz , a lot of radio airplay in late 1978. It charted at number 2. They could've gone to number one eventually without the ballads.

UGH!! Yoiu insult millions of fans over decades who LOVE this band by implying they're all "underrated".
