Comprised of Jon Matte (vocals, piano and trumpet), Kevin Warren (drums), and Jean-Sebastien Leblanc (guitar), the Montreal-based trio is vocal oriented, well-versed in a variety of rock-folk genres, and inspired by ambient guitar textures and brass. On-stage the Franklin Electric has been compared to the likes of Radiohead and Coldplay, often breaking away from original songs into periods of intense emotional improvisation. As they are on stage, the Franklin Electric is focused on authentic studio sessions grounded in the ideas of honesty and integrity; even to-date the group boasts a form of purity that remains untouched by anyone but the team themselves.
As for the front man of the group , Jon Matte has built his career on a resume of
professionalism. He studied music at Vanier College, and shortly after built an immense roster of production credits working with popular Quebec artists such as Patrick Watson, Bran Van 3000, Bad News Brown, Jaffa and Jodie Ma Dualite Resther on Deja Musique. I enjoy crafying sounds and making them fit together like a puzzle, even styles of music that I wouldnt necessarily sing myself, says Matte.
After years of working with some of Montreals most talented artists, Mattes decision to pursue his own dreams was only natural. Drummer Kevin Warren and guitarist Jean-Sebastien Leblanc jumped on-board after hearing Matte perform Old Piano, the groups upcoming single, and the team has grown ever since. Currently, theyve recruited platinum producer/engineer, Glen Robinson, to co-produce their self-titled debut set for release in the upcoming fall-winter season.
Over the past year the Franklin Electric has been vigorously pumping life into their craft, playing in local clubs, while developing a repertoire of finely-tuned material and fans. With an album in production, the Franklin Electric is poised to make their mark on the national stage.
With the help of manager Henry-Francois Gelot (E-Stunt Entertainment), the Franklin Electric has been given a profound boost. In 2011, the group is looking forward to the flourishing road to international stardom.

But you're scared of your own self
So you then ran away
And fear got the best of you
Can not escape when doubts everlasting your infinite friend
You turned and you frowned and you spit in his face
Now you wonder why as the ground splits away
Yeah it's hard to admit that you've been a disgrace
Spent all your time losing that you sit alone
Can't forget, can't explain, can't calculate
As you try to remember with memory lost
The feelings embedded inside
All this time you've been running
Turning circles in your own mind
As if you don't realize
You keep coming back around
All this time you've been running
Searching for a sign that sits somewhere
In a sky that's full of stars
They keep burning, changing
No it's never the same things
Spent your evening complaining
Turning circles in your mind
Ouhhh
All this time you've been running
Turning circles in your own mind
The faintest of memories from your childhood days
Taken you back all those words of days
But first of many who tried to fit in
Thinking you're special, you're one of a kind
Suddenly then you'd realize
You feel spent like that poor man's last time
And you drink all the water and finish that man
Finish that wine, won't you rest your heavy head
Turning circles in your mind Ohhh
The Franklin Electric's song "Running" is a contemplative piece that reflects on the experience of feeling lost and trapped in one's own mind. The song's opening lines suggest a sense of restlessness and fear, as the subject goes searching for something without really knowing what they're looking for. The lyrics go on to describe a struggle with doubt and fear, and the painful realization that these feelings cannot simply be escaped. The line, "Can not escape when doubts everlasting your infinite friend," suggests that these negative thoughts have become an integral part of the subject's self-perception.
The line "As you try to remember with memory lost, the feelings embedded inside" suggests that the subject is struggling to come to terms with difficult emotions from their past. The lyrics also touch on themes of isolation and despair, as the subject spends "all [their] time losing" and feels unable to connect with others. The repetition of the phrase "turning circles in your own mind" serves to reinforce the sense of feeling trapped and unable to break free from negative thought patterns.
Overall, "Running" is a song that speaks to the experience of struggling with one's own emotions and feeling lost in one's own mind. It is a song about the difficulty of finding meaning and purpose in life, and the struggle to break free from the negative thought patterns that can hold us back.

The day you went searching like you're not afraid

But you're scared of your own self
You fear yourself
So you then ran away

And fear got the best of you
Fear overtook you
Can not escape when doubts everlasting your infinite friend
You cannot escape from doubts which are always with you
You turned and you frowned and you spit in his face
You showed your disgust towards doubts and fear
Now you wonder why as the ground splits away
You are now uncertain and confused as everything falls apart

It's difficult for you to acknowledge that you have failed
This merciless game in this forsaken place
Life is an unforgiving struggle in this lonely place
Spent all your time losing that you sit alone
You have wasted all of your time and now you're alone
Can't forget, can't explain, can't calculate
You cannot forget, explain, or understand your situation
As you try to remember with memory lost
You struggle to remember despite your failing memory
The feelings embedded inside
You have deep-seated emotions within you
All this time you've been running
You've been constantly chasing after something
Turning circles in your own mind
You've been lost in your own thoughts
As if you don't realize
You're oblivious to your own actions
You keep coming back around
You keep repeating the same patterns
Searching for a sign that sits somewhere

The stars keep going, evolving
No it's never the same things
Things keep changing constantly
Spent your evening complaining
You've spent the entire evening grumbling
The faintest of memories from your childhood days
You vaguely remember memories from your childhood
Taken you back all those words of days
Those words take you back to the past
But first of many who tried to fit in
You were one of many people who tried to fit in
Thinking you're special, you're one of a kind
You believed you were unique and special
Suddenly then you'd realize
You suddenly realize
You feel spent like that poor man's last time
You feel drained, just like that poor man's last moments
And you drink all the water and finish that man
You consume everything, just like that man had his last meal
Finish that wine, won't you rest your heavy head
Finish that wine and lay your head down to rest
Turning circles in your mind Ohhh
You're still lost in your own thoughts

I love absolutely everything about this band. The lyrics, the vocals, the instrumental, everything fits so perfectly together which just makes the song that much better. By far my favourite song out of them all though.
