Witch Hunt
The Fresh Dixie Project Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

There's a witch onto the east, dear
Look for the hill amongst the haze
The boys, they gather in an ordered fashion
Not one man gave up the chase

They stand there, masked and unassuming
I start to pull apart the layers
And as I pull you near, my nerves they start to clear
And all my plans fall into place

I thought I left you on the doorstep
Instead of breaking down the door
I know you've been lying with him not me
Which may have led me to ignore

That you believe in everything you're told
The roots are down, girl, your scene is taking hold

Desire's a thirst that can't be quenched, though
A type of hunger you can't fake
Felt I had to shout as words came out my mouth
It's just a risk I had to take

The curtains close in on the evening
We drive on home; the night awaits
As London's lights, they turn from red to white
The shadows dance across your face

Now, you believe in everything you're told
The roots are down, girl, your scene is taking hold

Pull me along
I can't be here alone
No, I don't belong
Don't you see I'm lost here too
I didn't know that you were lost here too

There's a witch onto the east, dear
Look for the pile of broken bones
As the autumn leaves unclothe the winter trees
Pull me back into the cold

We stand there masked and unassuming
A smile stretched out across your face
As I pull you near, don't your suspenders jeer
As all our plans fall into place

Now, do you believe in everything we're told?
The roots are down, girl, your scene is taking hold

Pull me along
I can't be here alone
No, I don't belong
Don't you see I'm lost here too
I didn't know that you were lost here too

Pull me along
I can't be here alone
No, I don't belong

Don't you see I'm lost here too
I didn't know that you were lost here too

Overall Meaning

The Fresh Dixie Project's songs "Witch Hunt" is about a person who gets caught up in a dark and complicated relationship. The lyrics paint a picture of a woman who is trying to find her way through confusion and uncertainty. She's lost and struggling to understand what's going on around her.

The opening line of the song sets the scene for a search: "There's a witch onto the east, dear, look for the hill amongst the haze." The singer is on a mission to find something; there's a sense of urgency and danger. The boys in the song gather in an ordered fashion, determined to capture the witch, which represents the unknown and mystical forces that can cause chaos in life. As she pulls apart the layers, she realizes that everything she believed was based on lies and deception.

The chorus, "Pull me along, I can't be here alone. No, I don't belong. Don't you see I'm lost here too. I didn't know that you were lost here too," suggests that the singer is dependent on someone else to find her way. She's not sure where she stands or where she fits in, and she's looking for someone to help her navigate through the confusion.

I'm a Christian, and to all of you who think people that don't support LGBTQ are homophobic, I just want 'yall to know what's going through our heads and why you shouldn't get angry when we voice our opinions.
My whole life, I was raised in a home where we followed God no matter what struggles we faced. I was taught that being Gay is a sin, and to tell the truth, I still believe that. But a struggle I faced is that I'm too open for people to understand.
When I was a little kid, I had just heard about LGBTQ. I wasn't very familiar with it, but I knew it was wrong. I went on to Roblox to find people chatting about how people who don't support gays are bullies. Stupid little me walked right up to them and flat out told them what I was taught: that LGBT IS wrong, and they would never change that. I meant no harm, I was just repeating what I had been told. But the only thing they said in the chat was: You stupid little kid, you'll never amount to anything!
Then they voted me out of the game.
Now older and wiser, I know that I can have an opinion, I just need to keep it to myself. It's a constant struggle for me and other Christians.
Here, I'll say it in a way that you guys might be able to relate to. Have you ever seen someone taking drugs or vaping, and you knew it was wrong, but you couldn't say anything? That's how we feel.
The thing is, being gay might be a sin, but so is bullying, smoking, lying, disrespecting our parents, stealing...things we've all done. So I'm not going to say anything next time I see someone who's part of the LGBT community, but the next time someone says something that's against your sexuality, you shouldn't say anything either, because they should be allowed to voice their opinion. Weather it's right or wrong.
This could mend at least a small part of this broken world.

Zendaya said “it doesn’t matter who you/I love, it just matters how they love you” I’m pretty sure she said that a long time ago.

Zendaya said in her bestfriends ig live when someone ask if she's into women, Zendaya said "nope im not into women i'm just into men, i'm just attracted to men". She's only attracted to men and she's only dating/dated men her whole life, she's just into men.

And can i also add what she said about her character in euphoria? Zendaya said "my character in euphoria and me are two VERY different kinds of person, we are not the same. Rue is Sam Levinson. Rue is the version of director/writer Sam Levinson when he was younger and i was just portraying/playing the character Rue or the younger self of Sam Levinson"

I look forward to the day people can just go through life without having to "come out" and declare it to the world. We don't need to know your sexuality
.. just do you. When we don't make a big deal about it, it will be normalized.

Just cause Z changed man to person doesn't make her bi or gay. She's an amazing and well known supporter of the community

24Kurenai

Zendaya is not gay, she's playing a character who's lgbt in a TV series but I'm gonna flag this video as misinformation

24Kurenai

@Ashnotfound She's not tho, she has never stated that, and if you're referring to that little interview, then she's still never stated that b/c it's what fans implied of her quote.

Unless she's dating a girl or says she's bisexual, you can not infer she's bisexual.

She's straight based on history of dating or she's still a question mark.

The question is, if she's never stated she's bisexual why would you want a video outing her before she has done so herself.

Petra Solano

she’s bi I think but I don’t think she likes labels

Petra Solano

@24Kurenai no she said many times that she’s not straight she’s also had a girlfriend and hinted in many interviews I don’t think she likes labels but I think if she needed one she said once that she was bi
