Independence Day
The Golden Seals Lyrics
Independence Day is here
But it’s in December, not in July this year
And there’s a fireworks display
But it’s not the good kind so I should get away
I don’t want the kids to know
Tell them it’s for work, and I have to go with all my gear
And yeah, I’ll be there Christmas Eve
But as soon as dinner’s done... and dessert... I’ll leave
Because you’re colder than South Minnesota
And you’re farther away than the sun
How’d we get here
Coming where we were coming from?
Nobody told us when we were young
That when we got this old we’d still be dumb
I’ll pick up my vinyl soon
But as it is right now I just haven’t got the room
And if you need help with the tile
I could come by Thursday, and maybe stay awhile...
Because I’m colder than South Minnesota
And you’re farther away than the sun
How’d we get here
Coming where we were coming from?
I’m older than Handel's Messiah
And you’re hotter than heat from the sun
How’d we get here
Coming where we were coming from?
But it’s in December, not in July this year
And there’s a fireworks display
But it’s not the good kind so I should get away
