Keit… Read Full Bio ↴THE GONE JACKALS are a four piece hard R&R group based in S.F., CA.
Keith Karloff is the bandleader & front man of the G.J.'s. A singer-songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Keith relocated to S.F. from his native N.Y.C. where he had been performing under the name Keith Gale as a solo artist. Breaking from the restrictive environment and high expectations that the N.Y.C. circuit and its "big business" atmosphere fostered, Keith's was first and foremost a quest for personal and artistic freedom.
After a period of experimenting with ine-ups and instrumentation, everything came together best with Judd Austin on guitar and vocals (formerly with TOWER OF POWER's Ed McGee Group) and Trey Sabatelli (JEFFERSON STARSHIP, THE TUBES, VINCE WELNICK's MISSING MAN FORMATION) on drums. Enjoying the chemistry of his combo and feeling that he had begun to assimilate a reasonable amount of S.F.'s atmosphere, Keith became "Keith Karloff" and the band became "THE GONE JACKALS" - a musical unit.
"Out & About with THE GONE JACKALS" (ConTon-BLUE/BLACK) released in 1990 was the group's first full length C.D. and their first official recording as THE GONE JACKALS. THE GONE JACKALS second full length C.D. "BONE TO PICK" is the featured R&RThe Gone Jackals Live and Posterized soundtrack to THE LUCAS ENTERTAINMENT GROUP's smash hit interactive motorcycle P.C. game FULL THROTTLE which has sold hundreds of thousands of units worldwide. "BONE TO PICK" sold out its entire first run of 2K units within two months of its initial release, primarily through mail order via the BLUE/BLACK P.O. Box (listed in the game information) with only a limited amount of "in store" distribution and no air play whatsoever. "BONE TO PICK" was then added to the LUCAS Mail Order Catalog and has since become the #1 selling item in the entire Catalog.
BONE TO PICK has also caught the attention of Don Johnson's Music Director, who featured the song "Born Bad" in the "Baby Boy" episode of the hit C.B.S. Television series NASH BRIDGES.
Is It Clean

I came to you with tact, before
Words so sheer are always crossing signs.
I'll put it straight this time, tell me
Is it clean?
Solid through?
No more green
Is it clean?
Skin or core, so even when I'm cold.
A story left untold's the truth.
Husk and hear, I'll always be your man
There's only one thing I need to know.
Is it clean?
Solid through?
No more green
turns of blue.
Skin or core, so even when I'm cold.
A story left untold's the truth.
Is it clean?
Solid through?
No more green
turns of blue.
Is it clean?
Is it clean?
Is it clean?
Is it clean?
The Gone Jackals's song Is It Clean is a soulful expression of the need for clarity and honesty in a relationship. The lyrics convey a sense of urgency and a desire to resolve any doubts or uncertainties. The opening lines suggest that the singer and their partner had previously attempted to salvage their relationship but failed. The lyrics "Once before, we tried to get it back. I came to you with tact, before" reveal that the singer had attempted to address the issues tactfully but it did not work out. The second stanza emphasizes that honesty is key to the successful resolution of the relationship. The line "Words so sheer are always crossing signs. I'll put it straight this time, tell me" suggests that the singer had previously been less than clear in expressing their thoughts and feelings, but now they are determined to be blunt to avoid any misunderstanding.
The chorus "Is it clean? Solid through? No more green turns of blue" is a powerful repetition that highlights the need for clarity and certainty. The singer is asking whether their partner's love is pure and whether they can start anew. The phrase "turns of blue" is interesting because it suggests that the relationship had previously been healthy and vibrant but might have deteriorated to a point where it was no longer sustainable. The final stanza is a reaffirmation of the singer's love for their partner. The lyrics "Skin or core, so even when I'm cold. A story left untold's the truth. Husk and hear, I'll always be your man" suggest that the singer is willing to love their partner unconditionally, even if they are not perfect. The final lines "Is it clean?" repeated thrice emphasizes the need for clarity and certainty in the relationship.
