The Gords - Gord Maxwell, Gord Matthews and Gordon Lee Worden are an adult contemporary folk based vocal trio made up of veteran sidemen/session musicians. All three Gords are gifted singer/songwriters who, with their talents combined, offer a rich sound which is truly remarkable. They combine a natural vocal harmony blend, two standout guitar players and a driving bass player with songs designed to remind listeners that it is still possible to find a musical alternative to dance remixes, samples and “idols”.
All three Gords are alumni of the legendary Ian Tyson. Gord Matthews and Gord Maxwell served together from 1998-2008, appearing on the “Lost Herd”, “Live At Longview”,”Songs From The Gravel Road”, and “Yellowhead To Yellowstone” albums. Gord Maxwell and Gordon Lee Worden are still recording and touring with Mr. Tyson. They appear together on his latest album; “Raven Voice”. The Gords’ producer, Tom McKillip, also spent a couple of years as Ian Tyson’s guitarist.
Gord Matthews was a member of kd Lang And The Reclines from 1983-1990. He appeared on the albums “A Truly Western Experience”, “Angel With A Lariat” and “Absolute Torch And Twang”. While with kd, he played many high profile shows including David Letterman (twice),
Saturday Night Live, Austin City Limits, The 1990 Grammy Awards and The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson (five times!). His solo album “The Third Best Thing” is currently available online.
Gord Maxwell was the lead singer/bassist in One Horse Blue, and wrote their songs “Colors Of Love”, Baby Don’t Cry” and “Hopeless Love” which became the first independent single (Savannah Records) to reach number one in Canada. He is a sought after session singer, appearing on the albums of Ridley Bent, One More Girl, Lisa Brokop, Aaron Pritchett, Rick Tippe and Duane Steele as well as on many commercial jingles.
Gordon Lee Worden has played alongside Nick Gilder in Sweeney Todd, Sue Medley, Mike Reno, Barney Bentall, Brad Johner and Lisa Brokop. He has appeared on recordings by Crusoe, The Travelling Mabels, Babe Gurr, Aaron Pritchett and Ian Tyson. He co-founded The Great Wide Open with Mike Norman and Chris Aiken in 1998 and has performed extensively in Europe and Asia.
“Pick.”, The Gords’ first CD, features the drumming talents of Pat Steward (The Odds, Bryan Adams), producer Tom McKillip (One More Girl, Lisa Brokop, Aaron Pritchett) and two songs written by Ian Tyson

Having long, long night but maybe who's counting
Been rolling the dice and we've rolled a few sevens
We've been mighty dang broke and pretty dang blessed
A boy in a ball cap, two girls in a sundress
Trying to grow our little piece of heaven
Love takes time, living takes money
It's a all around you Sunday drive
It's a hold on baby roller coaster ride
Love, it don't fit no box
Love, it don't look at no clock
Love is like a fine wine
Love takes time
It's the wear and the tear on the wheels when they're turning
And all the mistakes that you make when you're learning
It's burning the bridge and building it back
It's staying up late when you'd rather be sleeping
Keeping the faith when it's hard to keep keeping
It's giving and taking and as a matter of fact
Love takes time, living takes money
Sometimes it hurts, sometimes it's funny
It's a all around you Sunday drive
It's a hold on baby roller coaster ride
Love, it don't fit no box
Love, it don't look at no clock
Love is like a fine wine
Love takes time
Love is a posted note
Love is not letting go
Love is faith and hope
Love takes time, living takes money
Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it's funny
It's a all around you Sunday drive
It's a hold on baby roller coaster ride
Love, it don't fit no box
Love, it don't look at no clock
Love is like a fine wine
Love takes time
It's staying up late when you'd rather be sleeping
Keeping the faith when it's hard to keep keeping
It's giving and taking and giving it back
Love takes time
Love takes time
The Gords's song Take Your Time is a reflective and optimistic country ballad that speaks about the ups and downs of life and love. The lyrics suggest that despite the challenges of making it through life together, love is worth it and can only be perfected with time. The song starts by narrating the tough times the couple has been through, followed by the rollercoaster of emotions they might have experienced, and end with emphasizing the importance of the couple's commitment and devotion to one another.
The first and second verses describe the events of the couple's journey together, highlighted by rows fought, nights spent up late, and the chances they took in some scenarios, highs and lows that made them broke and blessed at different moments. The chorus emphasizes that love takes time and money, and it does not always come easy. Sometimes it is painful, and at times, it is amusing. The song also acknowledges that love does not stop growing, using an analogy of a Sunday drive, and it is a never-ending rollercoaster ride, hence it is something to hold onto with all the love, faith, and hope one can muster.
