All You Wanted
The Grays Lyrics

Instead she takes it down to the track
And bets it all
Now you'll wait for the call
But will she fall
Keep saying it's up to me
You never thought it was going to be
At least she can't say
That it's all okay
She'll say that she's all that you've ever wanted
What will you do now for your encore
And it's her face by which you've been haunted
Still asking for more
And all those words that you've memorized
Don't mean a thing now you've realized
You don't talk
Aw, don't act so shocked
Just go take your walk
You say that she's all that you've ever wanted
What will you do now for an encore
And it's her face by which you've been haunted
Still asking for more
And after all's been said
You're still not done
[???]
Make sure you'll say it's all in fun
All you ever wanted
Is gone
You say that she's all that you've ever wanted
What will you do now for your encore
Yeah, it's her face by which you've been haunted
Still asking for more
Say that it's all
And it's her face
All you wanted
The Grays's song All You Wanted is a reflection on a one-sided and futile relationship. The lyrics suggest that the person depicts the subject of the song, an individual in love with someone who doesn't reciprocate the same feelings. He lets the woman take advantage of him repeatedly. The woman, on the other hand, is looking for someone to love her back but ends up chasing excitement and leaving behind what's true for a moment of pleasure. She is got addicted to risky behavior and dangers, gambling with her life and leaving her partner behind.
The first verse talks about how the woman promises to take the person back but ends up going back to her dangerous habit of gambling. Still, the person can't help but wait for her call, hoping she'll change. The second verse shows the person coming to terms with the fact that the woman is only using him for her entertainment and doesn't care about him, despite promising to do so. He acknowledges the relationship's fickleness and the fact that it won't last.
In the chorus, it's clear that the person is well aware of the woman's behavior, but he is still so in love with her that he can't help but ask for more, despite knowing that it won't get him what he wants. He's been haunted by her face, and he's still asking for more, blinded by his obsession for her.
Overall, The Grays's song All You Wanted is a warning against falling into the trap of an unrequited love and being used for someone else's entertainment.

This one is the strongest Buddy Judge track, and one of the highlights of the album for me. Love those close harmonies in the very last "and it's her face", sends shivers up my spine in a good way.
