Lawrence and Keeler, along with Detroit musician and producer Dave Feeny, were in the Do-Whaters, the band formed and led by Jack White of Detroit band The White Stripes for Loretta Lynn's 2004 album Van Lear Rose. Lawrence and Keeler are now at work in The Raconteurs with Benson and White. Lawrence is also the banjo and autoharp player for another Detroit band, Blanche, which also includes the aforementioned Feeny.
The band is also responsible for composing the soundtrack to a skateboard movie entitled "Mosaic" and released in 2003 by Habitat skateboards.
The band's latest album, entitled "****", was released on October 26, 2010, and was released on Jack White's Third Man Records imprint. The Greenhornes toured America, Europe, and much of Australia and New Zealand in support of the album, through 2010 and 2011. As of 2012, they have reformed, and have begun touring, however no news has emerged on whether the band will enter the studio to record another album, yet.

[Unverified] Out of sight
The city sleeps, a lovely silhouette
Sits on her bed, I'll have a peek
And when there's no-one around
I sneak through the grass without a sound
And mine to keep
I hang my head in shame
As I walk these empty streets
And when there's no-one around
I sneak through the grass without a sound
And when there's no-one around
I sneak through the grass without a sound
Things I do at night
[Unverified] Out of sight
The city sleeps, a lovely silhouette
Sits on her bed, I'll have a peek
The Greenhornes' song "At Night" is a hauntingly beautiful ode to the moments when the world sleeps and one is left alone with their thoughts. The lyrics explore the idea of sneaking around unseen and stealing glimpses into other people's lives. The imagery of the "lovely silhouette" sitting on her bed creates a sense of longing and curiosity, but also a sense of guilt for invading someone's privacy. The lyrics "I hang my head in shame, as I walk these empty streets" suggest a conflicted narrator who is grappling with the morality of their actions.
The repetition of the line "And when there's no one around, I sneak through the grass without a sound" reinforces the idea of secrecy and stealth, highlighting the surreptitious nature of the singer's actions. The use of the word "sneak" also implies that the singer knows that what they are doing is wrong, adding to the sense of guilt and shame.
Overall, "At Night" is a poignant and introspective song that explores the inner workings of a conflicted mind. It speaks to the universal experience of loneliness and the desire for connection, while also acknowledging the darker aspects of human nature.
