Friedman was once a member of the indie rock outfit The Boggs. In November 2007, following a US tour supporting The Boggs’ third album Forts, Jason Friedman and touring member Eleanore Everdell found themselves in the studio recording a brand new collaborative track without the rest of the band. Friedman said: "In the past, the collaborators I worked with would adjust what they did to fit my vision. Working with Eleanore it was clear that the time had come to shift into a more equal partnership.” In the 10 months since that session, the seven-year-old The Boggs were laid to rest, and The Hundred in the Hands were formed.
The first song completed was "Dressed in Dresden." In March 2009 the band released the single Dressed in Dresden / Undressed in Dresden on Pure Groove label. The online success of this song led in August 2009 to a deal with Warp Records, which Friedman calls "near the top of my list of ideal labels." Warp issued the 12-inch single Dressed in Dresden in 5 April 2009.
Eleanore Everdell also sang on "Lover’s Day" from TV on the Radio’s Dear Science.
THITH released in 18 May 2010 their first 6-track EP This Desert, followed by the singles Pigeons in 13 September 2010 and Commotion / Aggravation in 15 November 2010. The song "Pigeons" supported by an original music video, became their most popular song. In 20 September 2010 they released the debut album The Hundred in the Hands.
The Hundred in the Hands are inspired by artists like Young Marble Giants, Wire, New Order, The Cure, De La Soul, Buddy Holly, Broadcast, LCD Soundsystem and many others.
The duo's second studio album, Red Night, was released on 11 June 2012.

Into it
Into it
Into it
Into it
Lost in the midday half-life
Hiding away from the heat
In too deep, my heart turns again
Your voice still warm
In my ear
Into it
Into it
Oooooh, I′m in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm in love
Oooooh, I′m in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm in love
Dreaming of the clean days
Only the clean sheets between us
A deeper sleep, I turn again
Your voice still warm
In my ear
Into it
Into it
Oooooh, I'm in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I′m in love
Oooooh, I′m in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm in love
Sweat between your shoulders
Night falling in through
The open window
Slowly, slow it down
My heart turns again
Your voice still warm
In my ear
Into it
Into it
Oooooh, I′m in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm in love
Oooooh, I′m in love with you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, I'm in love
Slow it down
Slow it down
Into it
The song "In To It" by The Hundred in the Hands is a romantic love song that describes the feeling of being deeply in love with someone. The lyrics showcase the intense emotions that come along with falling in love and the desire to be with that person constantly. The singer talks about how being lost in the "midday half-life," or the limbo between day and night, brings them closer to their loved one. They talk about hiding away from the heat, which could symbolize the hardships of life, and being in too deep, which could connote the feeling of overwhelming emotions. The singer is dreaming of clean days with their loved one, which could represent the hope for a better future together.
Throughout the song, the singer talks about the warmth of their partner's voice in their ear, which could indicate the intimacy and trust between the two. The chorus repeats the phrase "Oooooh, I'm in love with you" four times, emphasizing the depth of the singer's feelings. The second verse talks about the sweat between their partner's shoulders and the night falling in through the open window, which could represent the vulnerability that comes with sharing intimate moments. The song concludes with the repetition of the phrase "slow it down," which could signify the desire to cherish and take things slowly with their loved one. Overall, the song showcases the euphoria and all-consuming emotions of being in love.
