Lead singer and songwriter Luke Hannaford has been working on new material for most of this year, tapping a raw and rich vein of ideas that leaves the band with tough choices about what they should take into the studio. The folks at BJB studio have been asked to tame the beast and capture the moment.
With New Yorks Eric J Dubowsky at the helm (Weezer's Red Album and a former colleague of Rick Rubin) their follow-up EP "In The Company of Wolves" will soon become the long anticipated second release from The Ivys. In a marriage of extraterrestrial proportions, The Scare guitarist Brock Fitzgerald will feature on the EP.

Must be confused
But I assure you
I have meticulously thought this through
I can't stay here
In this perfect place here
Feet nailed to the floor here
Bleeding all over my clean socks
Right down the road
Across county lines
Two hundred miles away
No looking back
No checking in
I'm just down the road
Two thousand miles away
The lyrics of "Miles Away" by The Ivy's portray a conflicting decision of leaving a seemingly perfect place behind and embarking on a journey. The singer acknowledges the confusion that their departure may cause to others but assures them that the decision was meticulously thought through. The song reflects a sense of restlessness and an innate desire for change, as staying in the current setting feels stifling and constraining, as if their feet are nailed to the floor. The reference to bleeding all over clean socks adds a touch of vulnerability to the lyrics, suggesting that the situation has become unbearable.
The singer makes a firm declaration of leaving, metaphorically walking out the door and down the road. Crossing county lines and going two hundred miles away signifies a physical and emotional distance, representing a significant break from the past. The line "no looking back, no checking in" further emphasizes their determination to move forward without any regrets or attachments. The final statement of being "two thousand miles away" adds an exaggerated sense of distance, emphasizing the magnitude of the decision and the desire for complete detachment.
Overall, "Miles Away" expresses the need for personal growth and escape from a suffocating situation, symbolizing the universal longing for change and freedom.
